AIIMS conducted the first national level entrance exam successfully post COVID-19 outbreak. The entrance exam was conducted for admission to BSc (Post-Basic) Nursing and MSc Nursing programmes at 150 centres across India.

AIIMS Nursing 2020

A lot is at stake, that’s what the Delhi High Court said regarding the postponement of the AIIMS Nursing 2020 and other PG programme entrance tests. AIIMS was able to conduct the national level entrance exam successfully at the listed 150 centres across the country. The entrance exam was the first ever exam conducted post the COVID-19 outbreak. The applicants were against the decision, but the authorities were sure about the management and conducted the AIIMS Nursing 2020 exam without any hassle.

The exam was earlier scheduled to be conducted on June 5, 2020, but because of the ongoing nationwide lockdown the authorities had to postpone it till June 11, 2020. The AIIMS Nursing 2020 admit cards were released a bit late as per the revised date announced by the conducting body, AIIMS New Delhi. The delay led to the speculation of another declaration of revised dates for the exam. But the AIIMS Nursing 2020 admit card was released on June 5, 2020. On June 8, 2020 AIIMS in its notification confirmed that it will conduct the exam as per the announced date (June 11) from 1.00 PM to 2.30 PM.

AIIMS Nursing Centre

AIIMS in its announcement, released a thorough guideline for maintaining distancing on the day of exam. The conducting body instructed the centre staff to strictly follow all mentioned guidelines. The conducting body made some guidelines to ensure the safety of candidates taking the exam. Staggered entry, social distancing, hand sanitization at the centre entrance, temperature checks at the entrance, entry to exam hall using the bar code entry and even a candidate disclaimer regarding their actual status, which was to be filled in by the candidates at the centre, post entry to the exam hall.

AIIMS Nursing Disclaimer

AIIMS was successful in conducting the national level entrance exam with no reported glitch across test centres. In the AIIMS Nursing 2020 admit card, the reporting time was 11.00 AM, and the exam was to start at 1.00 PM, hence, the candidates had to report to their respective centres two hours before the commencement of the exam.

One of the foremost precautionary measure taken at the centres was the staggered entry to the exam centre. Social distancing norms were followed, barring a few instances. The security staff and invigilators were found wearing masks and face shields. Every candidate had their temperature checked using infra-red thermometer at the entrance itself. The candidates were being instructed clearly at each and every step. Candidates were being handed a surgical three-ply mask after hand sanitization. Many of the candidates were found to have their own face-masks.

The next measure was of the AIIMS Nursing 2020 admit card which was bar-coded. Candidates had to scan their admit card using the touchless barcode scanner to access entry. The details of the seat allotted appeared on the screen after the scanning was complete. However, their IDs were checked personally at the help desk to maintain social distancing norms.

While security and hygiene measures were put in place, several candidates may have faced difficulty in appearing for this exam in terms of reaching the exam venue.

AIIMS Nursing 2020 for BSc (Post-Basic) Nursing and MSc Nursing programmes was an online examination, hence, minor to negligible technical issues were expected. However, barring a few incidents, candidates reported having a hassle-free experience.

Test takers of AIIMS Nursing 2020 are welcome to tell us more about their experience in the comment section below.
