AIIMS will conduct the BSc Nursing (Post Basic) Exam 2026 online as a Computer-Based Test in New Delhi and NCR exam centres only. The AIIMS Nursing Admit Card was released on May 25 @aiiimsexams.ac.in. The exam will be held as CBT for 30 seats. The CBT will be followed by the Personal Assessment/Interview.

The All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) will conduct the BSc (Post-Basic) exam 2026 online as a Computer-Based Test (CBT) at the designated exam centres across the nation in a single shift. 

AIIMS Nursing (Post Basic) Admit Card was released on May 25 as per the dates mentioned in the official information bulletin. The candidates should note that there are only 30 seats for the post-basic course in AIIMS New Delhi. The AIIMS follow the standard reservation policy in this course. The candidates who qualify in this exam will be called for Counselling at AIIMS, New Delhi. The full duration of this AIIMS BSc Nursing (Post Basic) is two years.

Q:   Has the AIIMS Nursing exam pattern changed?

There is no official intimation about the change in the AIIMS Nursing 2026 exam pattern yet. Until last year, there was no change in the exam pattern. AIIMS New Delhi conducts the national-level entrance exam to facilitate admission into the BSc Nursing and Post Basic BSc Nursing. The eligibility criteria and the pattern of both exams are different.

Q:   How many sections are there in AIIMS BSc nursing exam?
A: 

There are four sections in AIIMS BSc nursing exam named Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and General Knowledge. There were100 questions overall for which candidates were provided 120 minutes to solve the paper. It will be an online exam carrying objective-type questions. 

Q:   Is there any negative marking in the AIIMS entrance exam?
A: 

Yes, AIIMS BSc nursing entrance exam has a provision for negative marking. For each incorrect option chosen, -1/3 mark will be deducted. Candidates will be give 120 minutes to attempt the question paper. There will be overall 100 MCQ questions of 1 mark each.  

Q:   Are there subjective-type questions in the AIIMS Nursing exam?
A: 

No, the AIIMS Nursing 2026 question paper had objective-type questions only. It was a computer-based online entrance exam for which 120 minutes (2 Hours) were allotted to solve approximately 70 questions. Overall there were questions from: Physics (30 marks), Chemistry (30 marks), Biology (30 marks), and General knowledge (10 marks).

The candidates should note that there will be 70 questions online in the exam. The candidates will get 90 minutes to answer these 70 questions. The Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme is given below:

No, AIIMS Delhi does not release any question paper for the BSc nursing programme. As it is a CBT mode exam, the guess-based question paper is solved by the experts for the aspirants.

A: 

AIIMS nursing is an online exam which is conducted in computer-based mode. The BSc nursing entrance exam will be conducted carrying 100 questions of 100 marks (i.e. 1 mark for each question). Each section namely Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, will be of 30 marks each except GK section which will be of 10 marks. There will be a negative marking of -1/3 marks for choosing incorrect option.

AIIMS Post Basic Nursing 2026 Personal Assessment/Interview

As per the official notice, only 90 candidates will be selected for the AIIMS Nursing (Post Basic) course. These candidates will be called for a Personal Assessment/Interview by a Selection Committee. The total marks assigned for Interview is 30.

The AIIMS Selection Committee will consider the following factors at the time to personal assessment:

  • Past academic attainment in the Higher Secondary or +2 or equivalent examination;
  • Past academic attainment in the Nursing examination.
  • Performance as a Staff Nurse.

The candidates will be selected based on the total marks scored out of 100.

Yes, nursing graduates from Ahmedabad can apply for AIIMS nursing recruitment. AIIMS conducts its own recruitment exams for nursing officer positions. The basic eligibility is a B.Sc Nursing or GNM degree from a recognised institution and registration with the State Nursing Council.
