The majority of students received job opportunities at AMET Chennai placements in the operations sector. Apart from operations, students received placement in Engineering, IT, Military and Protective Services, Business Development, Sales, Education, Project and Project Management, Administrative, Quality Assurance etc. The University owns a placement cell called, the Centre for Placement and Training. The placement cell focuses on developing soft skills and qualities that the students will require during the time of placement.

As per the AMET Chennai placement stats for 2023, the UG 3-year programme witnessed the placement of 270 students. The median package received in the placement drive was INR 3.5 Lakh, while the median package for the UG 4-year programme was INR 5.25 Lakh.

AMET Chennai admission is conducted online through merit and entrance. Candidates must secure 40% - 60% in Class 12 and 50% in graduation. Along with the marks, candidates must appear for any of the entrance exams such as JEE Mains, TANCET, ACAT, TNEA, TSC etc. Candidates must go through the eligibility criteria and the list of all the admission criteria given on the official website. Candidates must also check for scholarship applications and fill in as per the eligibility criteria. The AMET Chennai admission process includes registration, followed by application submission. After successfully applying for the candidature, the entrance exam will be considered for the shorlisting for the process ahead. The shorlisted candidates will be called for personal interview and medical examination.

B.E. / B.Tech	Candidate must have passed Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/ Chemical Engineering from a recognized board with minimum 60% marks. Candidate must have good communication and writing skills in English and must have basic knowledge of computer science. or Candidates must have passed B.Sc. in Geology from a recognized college/ university with minimum 60% marks. Candidate must have good communication and writing skills in English and must have basic knowledge of computer science.
MBA/PGDM	Candidate who have completed 10 + 3 years Diploma +2/3 years pattern. Or Candidate who have completed 10 + 2 + AMIE + 2 Yrs of experience are also eligible to apply.
M.E./M.Tech	Boys and Girls are eligible to apply.
BBA	Both Boys and Girls are eligible to apply.
B.Com	Both Boys and Girls are eligible to apply.
B.Sc.	Medical Standard: Candidates must be physically and mentally fit for sea service under standard norms, should not be colour blind, with 6/6 for each eye separately. Candidates wearing spectacles are not eligible. The candidate must have a passport.
Certificate	Candidate who has passed Degree / Diploma are also eligible to apply.
M.Sc.	Candidate who has passed B.Sc. Degree with the mentioned marks in any subject of Life Sciences a recognized Indian or Foreign University are also eligible to apply.
UG Diploma	Medical Standards: Students should be physically fit for sea service (Medical examination will be conducted every time by the company medical officer before joining onboard ships) under standard norms with eyesight 6/6 in better eye, 6/9 without colour blindness in other eye as per the standard medical requirement to be conducted by Director General Shipping approved medical officer /MCA Requirement. Passport is Mandatory. Boys and girls students are eligible to apply.
