These are the findings of the WEF Future of Jobs Report, 2025.

Here are some of the most engineering disciplines with a high career scope:

  1. Computer Science and Engineering (CSE): This is one of the most in-demand branches. Its scope spans software development, data science, AI, and cybersecurity.

Careers 

  • Software Developer: These professional designs and test software applications for diverse platforms.

Skills Required: Knowledge of Version Control Systems, Software Designs and Programming Languages like Python and Java.

  • Cyber Security Expert: Protecting machines, data and networks from viruses and hackers is the mainstay of this role. 

Skills Required: Familiarity with Skill Threat Detection & Analysis, Network and Cloud Security and expertise in Penetration Testing and Incident Response. 

  • Game Developer: Designs and develops video games for various platforms, using software.

 Skills Required: Understanding of Game Engines, Knowledge of 3D Modelling & Animation Basics and Programming Languages. 

  • Robotics Engineer: Designs, develops, and tests software and hardware for robots, serving industries from manufacturing to medicine.

Skills Required: Understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering, familiarity with software like CAD, and power systems.

  • Chip Design Engineer: Designs circuits that control machines or electronic designs in terms of their battery, usage, function, etc.

Skills Required: Understanding of Digital Logic Design, Electronic Device Automation and proficiency in scripting languages like Python.
