About PTU MCA 

The Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme at the I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) is one of the most popular postgraduate programmes for those who want to make a career in computer science and IT. PTU MCA admissions are done through a Centralised Online Counselling. The admission to the PTU MCA programme is approved by the Department of Technical Education & Industrial Training, Government of Punjab.

IKGPTU does not conduct any entrance exam for admissions into its MCA programme. Students are admitted based on their academic performance. The counselling process also involves Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU).

The MCA programme at the PTU is of a two-year (four-semester) duration. It covers topics like software development, programming and programming languages, database systems, computer networks, data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.

The application and counselling for PTU MCA 2026 will be conducted online. Candidates must follow these steps:

Fee Payment

Click on the "MCA Counselling 2026" link. The candidate should make the INR 2,000 counselling fee payment through credit/debit card or net banking. Upon completion of the payment, provide the details like name, date of birth, email, and mobile number to complete the initial registration. The confirmation message will be sent to the registered mobile number or email id. 

Registration and Choice Filling

Log in using the credentials generated. The candidate should fill personal and academic details. The colleges/universities should be chosen in the order of priority. This stage is very important, as the allotment will be based on seat availability and preferences.

Final Submission

The details should be checked carefully and the form be submitted. A printout of the form should be taken for future reference. The details cannot be edited if they are submitted. PTU

Counselling Process for PTU MCA 2026

The counselling process will be conducted ONLINE, in multiple rounds, depending on seat availability.

Documents Required for Counselling

While appearing for Centralised Online Counselling for PTU MCA 2026, candidates are required to bring the coloured scan copy of the following documents, which will be uploaded on the portal.

1. Matriculation (10th) Details Marks Card (DMC)
2. Qualifying Exam DMC / Degree / Result (if DMC not issued)
3. Score Card of Entrance Exam, i.e. NATA, etc. (if Applicable)
4. Residential Certificate (Domicile or another valid Address Proof)
5. Aadhaar Card
6. Reserved Category Certificate (as Applicable)
7. Migration Certificate of Qualifying Exam (Not required for the same university)
8. Income Certificate issued by the Authority of the respective State Government (i.e. Suvidha Kendra) for the Current Financial Year (if claiming for any monetary benefit, i.e. Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme or Post Matric Scholarship Scheme)

9. Gap Affidavit (if Applicable)
10. Scanned Passport Size Photo and Signature

At the time of reporting, original documents must be produced, along with at least 6 copies of their passport-size photo.

PTU MCA 2026 Seat Allotment

• Seat allotment will be published round-wise in July 2026.
• Candidates need to log in to check their seat status.
• Allotment will depend on rank, category, preference, and availability of seats.
• After allotment, candidates must confirm admission by paying fees and verifying documents at the allotted college.

PTU MCA 2026 Cutoff

The cutoff will be declared online after each counselling round. It will consist of the opening and closing ranks of admitted candidates.

• Meeting the cutoff does not guarantee admission, as seat allotment also depends on category and choice filling.
• Tentative cutoffs are expected to be available in July–August 2026.
