Banaras Hindu University is known as one of the most popular universities in India. BHU has been in the top rank as per the NIRF consistently. BHU is one of the 8 public institutions declared as an Institute of Eminence by the Government of India. It has 4 affiliated colleges in Varanasi, in addition to its constituent colleges and departments. BHU infrastructure is one of its biggest strengths and highlights. The university is spread over a sprawling 1,300-acre campus in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. BHU campus has almost all the facilities that are required for the overall needs, well-being and development of students.

BHU Hostel & Residential Facilities

BHU has over 75 hostels, which can accommodate over 18000 students. The hostels are spacious and clean, and they have all the necessary amenities, such as dining halls, laundry facilities, and medical centres. The hostels have all the basic and additional facilities required by students. The hostels have common rooms with TV, wi-fi and other sports facilities. Broacha Hostel which is for boys has 306 rooms with a capacity of 648 students. For girls, the two most famous hostels are- Gargi Hostel and Kundan Devi Shatabdi Hostel. These hostels have a Common room with a TV, Library room, Computer room, Mini Common kitchen with induction & Fridge, Geyser, Wi-Fi and various sports facilities (like Volleyball, Badminton and other indoor games facilities).

Also, the university has over 1,000 laboratories, which are equipped with the latest scientific equipment. BHU Sports Facilities

BHU has various sports facilities, including a stadium, a swimming pool, a gymnasium, and tennis courts. The university has a sprawling campus dedicated to allowing students to explore their aesthetic side. The Institute of Science playground, also known as Brocha Ground, is spread across a large area. An indoor badminton court, squash court, table tennis court, carrom hall, chess hall, gymnasium hall and a boxing ring for training are also there.

Banaras Hindu University is an internationally reputed temple of learning, situated in the holy city of Varanasi. The campus has many interesting places to visit around it such as Man Mandir Observatory, Thai Temple, Chaukhandi Stupa, Bharat Kala Bhavan Museum, Shivala Ghat etc. There are markets around for shopping and a lot of eating outlets to enjoy in free time.
