Yes, a medical certificate is compulsory to get admission into BSc courses at IMU Chennai, Indian Maritime University (IMUC). A physical fitness certificate issued by a registered medical practitioner is required to be submitted at the time of admission, when you get selected. Moreover, in the counseling process, an applicant is required to submit their medical certificates.

The total seat intake for the BSc course at IMU Chennai is 120. All these seats are offered in one specialisation i.e., Nautical Science. To get a seat in this programme, canddiates  must complete their Class 12 from the PCM stream with at least an aggregate of 60% and 50% in English at the Class 10 & 12 levels. Indian Maritime University (Chennai Campus) offers a BSc course in one specialisation, i.e., Nautical Science. This course opens various career opportunities both at sea and ashore. The names of the job roles available after completing the course are as follows:

• Port Operations, etc. 

Currently, the counselling process is going on for admission to the BSc course at IMU Chennai, which has been released. In this Chennai campus, candidates who qualify for IMU CET can register themselves for the counselling process after the release of the IMU CET list. The application form usually starts in the month of April/ May every academic year. For, the academic batch 2025, the last date to fill out the IMU CET Application form was 2 May 2025.  

Candidates who have been issued with IMU CET Rank Certificate are provided with a portal through which they can select the Programme (s) and the Campus (es) where they desire to take admission. Candidates have to register on this portal by making an online payment of INR 10,000/- towards the Counselling Fee. The Counselling Fee is nonrefundable if a seat is allotted on any campus in any programme; else INR 9000 will get refunded.
