IGNOU admissions 2025 are open. Interested candidates can check and apply for their desired course through the official website of the university. A few more updates are given below:
- The XAT registration process 2026 is now open for MBA/PGDM courses. The last date to register is Dec 5, 2025. Furthermore, the XAT 2026 exam will be held on Jan 4, 2026.
- IGNOU has started PhD admission 2025. Candidates can apply till Oct 31, 2025. Further, the entrance test will be held on Jan 5, 2026.
- The fresh registration process for the July 2025 session is currently open for admission to all the courses (ODL/online mode) (except Certificate and Semester-based courses), and the last date has been extended to Oct 15, 2025.

IGNOU Admission Overview 2025
IGNOU admissions are usually conducted in two sessions in a year-January and July. As per the multiple sources on web, more than 7 lakh students enrol in the IGNOU courses every year. The university offers admission to candidates of any age meeting the eligibility requirements. For some courses such as B.Ed, BSc Nursing and PhD, the university conducts an entrance exam.
IGNOU admission process includes registration, document submission, appearing for entrance test (if requireD) and fee payment. Currently, IGNOU offers more than 200 programmes at UG, PG, diploma, certificate and doctoral levels in distance education and online mode. The courses are a benefit to working professionals who cannot attend classes physically. Candidates have to apply on IGNOU Samarth Admission Portal for the preferred course.

IGNOU admission 2025 is open for July Session. The last date to apply for Online/ ODL courses is Sep 15, 2025. Candidates can fill out the application form on the official website of IGNOU. Aspirants have to first register and then login to fill out the application form.
Students who have applied for B.Ed, MBA or PB BSc Nursing must appear for the required entrance and check if they've qualified it. Followed by application, application fee payment and entrance, students who have completed their registration can check their status by entering their registration number on the IGNOU admission status page. The university also notifies students about their admission confirmation or rejection through an email and a text message in the next two months.
IGNOU admission cycle opens twice in a year i.e. January and July. The registrations for January session usually begins in December and close by March. The July session for ODL/ Online programmes begin in May and continue till July. The mode of application is online for all the courses.

IGNOU Eligibility & Selection 2025
IGNOU UG admissions are held in two sessions-January and June. The Open University offers BA, BCom, BBA, BSc, B.L.I.Sc, among various other courses across multiple specialisations at the UG level. Most of these UG courses are offered via distance learning mode for three years' duration. However, BPP and BLIS courses are offered for one year. The university considers the Class 12 scores of the candidates for admission.

IGNOU PG Admission 2025: Eligibility & Selection Criteria
IGNOU offers various PG courses, such as MA, M.Sc, M.Com, MCA, MSW and MBA across various specialisations. The selection to most of these IGNOU PG courses is based on the merit scores obtained by the students in their UG degree. While a majority of IGNOU PG courses are offered for a duration of two years and can be extended up to four years, the duration of the M.L.I.Sc course is one year. Certain programmes are not allowed under the simultaneous registration. Students are advised to visit

IGNOU Admission Process 2025
IGNOU admission 2025 is open. Candidates who are willing to fill the IGNOU 2025 application form have to create a DEB ID. The DEB ID is mandatory for all students. Step 1: IGNOU Application Process 2025
IGNOU application process is completely online. Aspirants fulfilling the eligibility requirements can fill out the form as and when the applications open.
Step 2: IGNOU Selection Rounds 2025
Students who have applied for B.Ed, MBA or PB BSc Nursing must appear for the required entrance and check if they've qualified. The university announces IGNOU results on the official website of the university. Followed by application, application fee payment and entrance, students who have completed their registration can check their status by entering their registration number on the IGNOU admission status page. The university also notifies students about their admission confirmation or rejection through an email and a text message in the next two months.
The university reviews the admission forms submitted by the candidates. These forms are processed region-wise on a first-come-first-serve basis. Therefore, the time required for the processing of forms for different regional centres may vary depending on the number of applicants from the respective region. However, the university claims that within two months, every student receives admission confirmation via email or on the student portal.
Step 3: IGNOU Admission Confirmation 2025
Once the university communicates that the student is shortlisted, students need to pay the course admission fee as per the IGNOU fee structure to confirm their seat at the university.
IGNOU offers fee exemptions and reimbursement facilities to students belonging to reserved categories, such as SC and ST. These students are eligible for Government of India Scholarships. Such students are advised to collect scholarship forms from the Directorate of Social Welfare or from the office of the Social Welfare Officer of their State. This form must be filled out and submitted to the Regional Director at the Regional Centre for necessary certification by the Regional Director.
IGNOU Fees 2025
IGNOU fee structure is cumulative of multiple components such as the tuition fee and one-time fee, etc. The registration fee is non-refundable. IGNOU accepts fee payment in online mode via credit card/debit card/net banking. After completion of the first year, students have to pay the IGNOU re-registration fee to register for the admission year till the course completion. IGNOU Fee Refund Policy 2025
IGNOU University has a pre-defined limited provision for admission cancellation and fee refund. The registration fee is not refunded in any case. In a case where admission is denied by the university, the programme fee is refunded after the processing fee deduction. The amount is transferred to the source account. Some of the fee refund rules along with the modified IGNOU fee refund policy 2025 are mentioned in the table given below:

Commonly asked questions On Admissions
IGNOU admission is conducted in two cycles, i.e. January and July. While the registrations for the January session generally get over in March, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) admission for the July session opens in June and remains open till Jul-Aug. The admissions are mainly based on the aggregate obtained by candidates in the last qualifying degree. Students who were not able to take admission in the January batch are open for admission in the July batch. Hence, the answer is almost yes.
Candidates who are selected for admission need to confirm their seat by paying the course fee. Here are few things that students will recieve after taking admission in IGNOU:
- Once a students get admission into IGNOU, he or she will recieve the enrollment number and ID for future login to the samarth portal of the university.
- Based on the choice made by the candidate while filling the application form, he or she will then recieve the study material. Soft copy is available on the official website of the university.
- Registered students also recieve a mail from the regional or study centre for counselling. It is an induction ceremony where the course is introduced to the students.
- A schedule of classes is also shared through mail. For any query regarding classes, students must contact their study centre.

The total tuition fee for B.Ed at IGNOU is INR 55,000. This information is sourced from official website/ sanctioning body and is subject to change. Aspiring students are required to register on the admission page of IGNOU’s official website and fill out the application form online. In the form, fill in all the details asked, upload the required documents, preview the data and pay the application fee.
To be eligible for the course, candidates must pass in Class 12 with Science subjects or its equivalent. The university follows a credit system for all its programmes including BSc. One credit equals 30 hours of learners' study time. To earn a UG degree, a learner has to earn 132 credits in a minimum of six semesters (three years) with 22 credits per semester.

Yes, you can get a job abroad. There are certain organisations that do prefer full-time graduation but getting rejected everywhere should not be the scenario.
