Q: How can I get admission in MAKAUT?

MAKAUT University accepts both merit and entrance based exam scores. The university conducts CET exam in June for admission to courses such as BSc, MSc, BBA and BCA courses. MAKAUT conducts JEMAT for admission to MBA and MHA courses. It also accepts a few other state/ national-level entrance exams such as WBJEE, PGET, UGC NET (including JRF)/ CSIR NET for admission to UG, PG and doctoral-level programmes.

Candidates can visit the official website and fill out the application form. Appear for the entrance exam mentioned above and wait for the merit list to get released. Lastly, shortlisted candidates will be eligible for counselling.

MAKAUT offers approximately over 80 UG, PG Diploma doctoral and Certificate courses across its seven schools and more than 100 UG and PG programmes via 196 affiliated colleges. MAKAUT BCA course admission are done based on scores in CET exam conducted by the university itself. Students interested in seeking admission to the BCA course are required to apply via CET conducted by MAKAUT. Following is a step by step guide for MAKAUT admissions:

Visit the official website of the instiute and click on 'Apply Online for CET'.
Register by adding the required details, such as name, contact details and a valid email id
Check for the registration number received via SMS/email
Login and fill out the application form
Pay the application fee and submit the form

MAKAUT BCA application fee for the CET exam conducted by MAKAUT is as follows:

Shortlisting based on CET

After the announcement of CET results, candidates are ranked based on their performance in the entrance exams. The candidates who are shortlisted for counselling are informed about further process over call/mail, by the authorities of CET. The counselling fee for CET is expected to be INR 500. However, it is subject to change at the discretion of the concerned authorities.

Admission Confirmation

Students who get allocated a seat via the counselling need to get their documents verified by the admission authorities. After document verification, students are required to pay the prescribed fees to secure their admission. The MAKAUT BCA fees ranges from INR 66,000 to INR 5 lakh for a course duration of two years as per the official website/sanctioning body. It is, however, subject to changes and hence, is indicative.

No, admission to MAKAUT is based on entrance exams for courses such as BTech. Candidates wanting to get admission to MAKAUT for BTech must qualify West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations (WBJEE) exam and WBJEE Counselling. Those willing to get admission in the second year must appear for JELET (for Lateral Entry). MAKAUT also accepts JEE Main exam for BTech admission.

Our college is very good. Environment and placements are also very good.

Placements: All students are placed properly in many companies. The average package is 3.5 LPA. About 70 percent of students are placed, and the average package is 4–5 LPA. TCS, Infosys, and Wipro are also very good in environment. It also gives us Pan India-based placements, which is helpful for us.

Infrastructure: We have a computer lab with proper equipment. We have a basketball ground where we all spend time. We also have the best Wi-Fi in the college. Every room has an air conditioning facility. Mike is also good in our classroom. Medicine is properly given by our teacher.

Faculty: Teachers are genuinely helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable with decent teaching quality overall. The curriculum is relevant and provides a good foundation, helping students become industry-ready with additional skill development.

I am absolutely satisfied with it.

Placements: 90 percent of students get placements in our college. The highest package offered is 12 LPA. Top recruiting companies like Wipro, Deloitte, Capgemini, etc., hire students. In my course, students can get SDE roles in different companies as junior and senior, and also with specialisation.

Infrastructure: Facilities are good. The infrastructure is totally nice in our course. There are facilities like Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, and a library. There are two libraries, one is small, and the other is a central library. Printing or Xerox shops are also there. The quality of facilities in the hostel is perfect. The food quality is also good. There is no dirty mess. On our campus, medical facilities are also provided. There are two grounds and a basketball court.

Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is perfect. This course makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are average, and we can easily get the passing percentage.

Other: I chose this course because of my interest. It will give more knowledge about computers, and we will code in different languages as it improves our skills. In college, every year, events and fests are organised.

IEM Salt Lake BCA: Strong placements, decent infrastructure, and good supportive faculty members.

Placements: College provides excellent BCA placements with reputed recruiters like Deloitte, TCS, and Infosys. Around 90-95 percent of students got placed with an average package of 4 LPA to 5 LPA, and top offers reaching more than 8 LPA. It gives placement assistance as well, so students feel free to take any help.

Infrastructure: Average infrastructure with basic labs and classrooms that need modernization. Hostel facilities are limited, with small rooms and average food quality. Libraries are good and updated with all required books. It's not good, at least in my opinion, it's a 3/5 rating.

Faculty: The faculty at this campus for BCA is knowledgeable and supportive, with a well-structured curriculum covering core IT skills. Exams are moderately tough, not so easy, not so hard, focusing on concepts and practical. Over all it deserves a 4/5 rating.

Placements: Every year, 80 to 90% of students get placed from our college in top companies. Top recruiting companies are TCS, Wipro, and Cognizant. Top roles offered by the companies are analyst trainee and graduate trainee to the candidates. The highest package offered by companies is 12 LPA, the average is 6 LPA, and the lowest is 2 LPA. Every year, 80% of students get internships in TCS, HCLTech, and many more.

Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure are excellent here, plus the Wi-Fi connection is good for students to access the internet inside the campus. Classrooms and labs are neat and clean. Faculty: Teachers are very qualified and helpful in our college. They are very friendly and teach students well to make them understand the subject easily. This course is relevant and makes the students able to get jobs in IT companies. Semester exams are very easy, and the pass percentage is 50%.

Other: I chose this course as I have interest in the IT sector, plus the best thing in this course is that it helps to increase knowledge in the technical field. But Data Structure is quite difficult, and this needs to improve to get good marks. Different fests and events are held in our college like technical events, plus scholarships are also provided to students by our college.

Placements: The percentage of students who were placed last year was 25%. The highest package is 8 LPA, whereas the lowest package is about 4 LPA. Top recruiting companies include Amazon, Infosys, and Cognizant. This year, about 80% of our students got their internships. Top roles offered are software developer, web designer, UI/UX developer, etc.

Infrastructure: Here, you experience facilities like a gym, a good campus, sports, a library, free Wi-Fi, friendly teachers and students, and a ragging-free environment. It’s somewhere between good and excellent. But sometimes there are delays in starting some classes for the new semester.

Faculty: Some teachers here are excellently qualified and experienced. But some of the new faculty members are less friendly and helpful. I think the course really offers what is important to become industry-ready. Overall, I would suggest that they recruit more experienced teachers for some subjects.

On average, the college is okay for someone who really needs a job just after course completion.

Placements: On average 75% are getting placed at the top of the MNCs. The package may vary from 2 LPA to 5 LPA. TCS, Wipro, Infosys, JTSi, and Capgemini are the companies that are recruiting, and the number of students getting internship opportunities is less. The roles offered in my course are Software Engineer, Data Analyst, Application Developer, and Analyst Trainee.

Infrastructure: Well-maintained computer labs are there, however, there is no free Wi-Fi because the college is a little more strict, so they do not provide Wi-Fi access to students. There is a library with a lot of collections. I was not there in the hostel, but it's good for boys, but for girls, I think there is a need for improvement ( suggestion from girls).

Faculty: Most teachers are qualified and have enough knowledge, but some are not. The teaching quality is good. Course curriculum is relevant, but it doesn't make students industry-ready. Semester exams are not very difficult, anyone who attended the classes can pass the exam, and the pass percentage is high, somewhat above 90%.

Other: BCA has a greater scope, so I chose it, can enter into various IT jobs through BCA. Actually, the syllabus is good, but interacting with the latest technologies is also needed. Events are fewer, a little crowd, good atmosphere, and scholarships are there.
