MAKAUT Ph.D.Highlights 2026
At the doctoral level, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) offers PhD programme across 42 disciplines at the university which includes Science, Engineering, Technology, Management and Hospitality areas. Check out all 42 PhD specialisations & their admission details. Admission to PhD is subject to RET conducted by MAKAUT. However, applicants who have cleared UGC-NET (including JRF)/ UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET/ GATE/ teacher fellowship holder or have passed MPhil or passed the MPhil/ ME/ MTech/ MD/ MPharm or equivalent can apply directly without RET. However, all students have to go through a mandatory interview round for final selection.
MAKAUT PhD Admission 2025: Eligibility, Selection & Fee
At the doctoral level, MAKAUT also offers PhD programme across 42 specialisations to the students. All details around PhD admission are as follows:
- Selection: Based on Research Entrance Exam (RET) conducted by the University + PI
- Exemption: Those who have cleared UGC NET (including JRF)/ CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET/ GATE/ teacher fellowship holder or those with MPhil or passed MPhil/ ME/ MTech/ MD/ MPharm or equivalent examinations can apply directly. For such candidates, the selection is interview-based.
- Eligibility: A pass in master’s degree, such as MPhil/ ME/ MTech/ MD/ MPharm or equivalent with 70% aggregate or 7.5 CGPA + candidate should be less than 30 years of age as on date of admission (5 years of age relaxation is there for SC/ ST/ women and physically challenged candidates)
- Application fee: INR 500
- Other fees: Admission fee is INR 6,000 | Thesis submission fee is INR 19,500 | Enrolment interview: INR 2,000
- Number of fellowships offered: 9
- Duration of fellowship: 3 years (further one-year extension is given)
- Fellowship amount: The fellowship amount is INR 31,000 per month for the first two years followed by INR 35,000 per month for the third year. A contingency grant will be admissible to the scholars at the rate of INR15000 per annum to meet the miscellaneous expenditures.

Any student who has passed Class 12 from a recorgnised board of education is eligible to apply for BSc courses at MAKAUT. Moreover, the students seeking admission to the aforementioned course would be required to have a valid CET (conducted by MAKAUT) score.
MAKAUT offers a 3-year BSc course in various specialisations. Specialisations include Biotechnology, Cyber security, Data Science, Microbiology, and more. Admission is based on entrance exam scores.

No, admission to MAKAUT is based on entrance exams for courses such as BTech. Candidates wanting to get admission to MAKAUT for BTech must qualify West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations (WBJEE) exam and WBJEE Counselling. Those willing to get admission in the second year must appear for JELET (for Lateral Entry). MAKAUT also accepts JEE Main exam for BTech admission.

MAKAUT offers safe and healthy environment for the students. The university provides modern amenities with state-of-the-art infrastructure to its students and is spread over an area of 40 acres of land at Haringhata, District Nadia, provided by the Government of West Bengal. The facilities provided by the university include sports, library, MAKAUT WB centers, etc. The university also has hostel facilities both for boys and girls with various facilities.

The selection criteria for BPharm at MAKAUT is entrance based with the university accepting WBJEE scores for the same. The minimum eligibility is passing Class 12 with atleast 45% aggregate in any stream. Make sure that the minimum eligibility requirement for the preferred course is met before apply

The total tuition fee for M.Tech at MAKAUT West Bengal ranges between INR 48,000- INR 72,000 in the year 2024.
