What is PUBDET?

Presidency University Bachelor’s Degree Entrance Test or PUBDET is held to pick students for BA and BSc (honours) courses at Presidency University, Kolkata. It is a offline test, done with pen and paper. Students who want to study here can apply for up to two subjects while filling the PUBDET application form. PUBDET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Before you fill the application form, make sure you meet the PUBDET 2026 eligibility criteria. If a student doesn’t meet it, they can lose their chance at any stage of selection. The subject-wise eligibility rules for the exam are given below.

Age Limit

  • No upper or lower age limit

Academic Qualification

  • Candidates should have cleared the higher secondary examination (XII) that is conducted by CBSE, West Bengal or an equivalent exam, not before 2020.
  • The candidate must pass XII with at least five recognized subjects, including English language and excluding Environmental Science. The aggregate is to be calculated in the best four recognized subjects.

Apart from the above, in their qualifying exam in Class 12, candidates should have secured a minimum aggregate score as mentioned in the table below:

Bengali

Candidates may apply from the Arts/ Science stream at the 10+2 level. They must have Bengali as one subject with 60% marks in Bengali.

English

Candidates may apply from the Arts/ Science stream at the 10+2 level. They must have English as one subject with 65% marks in English-A (WBHS) or 75% in English.

History

Candidates have to apply from the Arts stream at the 10+2 level. They must have History as one subject with 65% marks in History.

Philosophy

Candidates may apply from the Arts/ Science/ Commerce stream at the 10+2 level. They must have English as one subject with 65% marks in English.

Political Science

Candidates may apply from the Arts/ Science stream at the 10+2 level. They must have English as one subject with 60% marks in English.

Sociology

Candidates may apply from the Arts/ Science/ Commerce stream at the 10+2 level. They must have English as one subject with 70% marks in English.

Hindi

Candidates may apply from the Arts/ Science stream at the 10+2 level. They must have Hindi as one subject with 60% marks in Hindi.

Performing Arts

Candidates may apply from the Arts/ Science stream at the 10+2 level. They must have English as one subject with 60% marks in English.

Physics

Candidates have to apply from the Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at the 10+2 level. They must have secured 80% in Physics and 80% in Mathematics.

Chemistry

Candidates have to apply from the Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at the 10+2 level. They must have secured 80% in Chemistry.

Mathematics

Candidates have to apply from the Science stream with Mathematics as one subject at the 10+2 level. They must have secured 80% in Mathematics.

Statistics

The candidate has to apply from the Science stream with Mathematics as one subject at the 10+2 level. The candidate must have secured 80% in Mathematics or 80% in Statistics (if Statistics is one of the subjects taken at the 10+2 level).

Life Sciences

Candidates have to apply from the Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/ Statistics and Biology at the 10+2 level.

Economics

Candidates may apply from the Arts/ Science/ Commerce stream at the 10+2 level. They must have Mathematics (not Business Mathematics) as one subject with 70% marks in English (A/ B) and 75% in Mathematics.

Geography

Candidates may apply from the Arts/ Science stream with any three of the following subjects at the 10+2 level: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Statistics, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, History, Geography, and Geology.

Geology

Candidates have to apply from the stream with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at the 10+2 level. They must have secured 70% in each of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

PUBDET 2026 Application Process

The PUBDET application forms are released online on the exam body’s website. To fill the form, you need to register on the official site with your name and contact details. You also have to pay an application fee while filling it out. The exam body gives a chance to correct mistakes in the form, but that application correction window is now closed. Remember, the form is only available online on the official website. Any other way of submitting the form will not be accepted for the entrance exam.

PUBDET Exam Centres 

Applicants are required to fill in their exam centre choices while filling out the PUBDET 2026 application form. If their preferred exam centres are at capacity, they will be allotted another based on proximity to their preference. Exam centres won't be changed once the admit cards are released.

WBJEEB will release PUBDET 2026 exam pattern on its official website. PUBDET pattern 2026 will include mode, medium, total questions, types of questions, marking scheme, etc. In PUBDET 2026 exam, the questions are asked in English. However language courses like Hindi and Bengali are in their native language.

PUBDET 2026 admit card maybe come out around June 2026. The time for PUBDET admit card download will be announced soon. You can get your PUBDET admit card from the official website by using the login info you made when you register. After you download it, print the PUBDET admit card on paper. This admit card, or hall ticket, you must take it with you to the exam center, or they not let you write the exam.
