Once the prospective candidates have applied for the SPA Delhi MPlan programme, the admission committee begins with the shortlist process. Candidates who have good academic records and meet the set cutoff in entrance exams are invited for the interview round. In this round, a panel of interviewers evaluates students based on their portfolio of work/thesis/projects, work experience (if any), and the SOP.

Admission to all the popular courses such as BArch and MArch is through national-level exams such as GATE/CEED/JEE Main (Paper-II). However, for the PhD course, admission is merit-based. Candidates' academic records and eligibility criteria fulfilment are the criteria for selection. Further, the organisation believes in providing equal opportunities and hence there is no home state quota.

SPA Delhi was ranked in the fifth position by NIRF in the Architecture category. Hence, it tops many of the NITs except for NIT Calicut. Thus, the School of Architecture and Planning is preferred by many students. The placements at the school are also decent, in 2021, BArch students received a median package of INR 5 LPA.
