Thapar University MA Admission 2024
Under the stream of Arts, Thapar University offers an MA programme across two specialisations and four sub-specialisations with an intake of 20. The duration of this course is two years spread over two semesters per year.
Total fee: INR 1.51 lakh (calculated from the semester-wise fee available on the official website for 2017-18 batch)
Selection:
- Marks obtained in Class 12 and graduation
- Graduation must be done from a recognised university
- Candidate must attach mark sheets of Class 12 and all the marks sheets of graduation upto end of second year along with the printout of applications
- Candidates with a pending backlog in the first two years of UG degree are not considered for admission. Percentage secured at the end of the second year of graduation is only considered even if the candidate has completed the graduation. 5% additional scores are added for the students who have an honors degree in Psychology/Economics.

To get the BTech Merit Scholarship-I at Thapar University, applicants must complete their Class 12 and must have scored more than 95%. Additionally, the applicant must be among the top 50 students based on their All India Rank (AIR) in JEE Main 2024, regardless of her/ his engineering branch.
For continuation of the scholarship in the second year, applicants must have a minimum of 8.50 CGPA in all previous semesters. In BTech Merit Scholarship-I, students get a total fee waiver.

Thapar University application process is online. Students can register via official website. A step-by-process is mentioned below/-
1- Visit www.thapar.edu.
2- Click on “Admission 2025” banner to register.
3- Fill the application form.
4- Upload a scanned photo of the qualifying exam mark sheet and a passport-size photograph.
5- Pay the application fee online via debit/ credit card or net banking.

Yeah, Thapar does have that board merit route with JEE as a tiebreaker.
For CSE at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, it's quite competitive even through boards.
Rough idea:
- You usually need around 95–97%+ in PCM to be safe
- With 93–95%, chances become borderline (depends on year)
