Review of CSE (Derabassi Campus).
Placements: 90% of students are placed in this course. The placement is on par with CSE at TIET, Patiala. Placement happens from the Patiala campus only when you go there for 2 years. This year, the highest package has been 1.23 crore, which was offered by Rubrik, and the average package is 12-13 Lacs per annum. Top recruiting companies are Samsung, Microsoft, Amazon, Rubrik, JP Morgan, DE Shaw, Accenture, etc.
Internship opportunities have also been given by the above companies and many more.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure at Derabassi Campus is not as good as that at the Patiala Campus. The Academic Block at Derabassi Campus is the same size as the library at Patiala Campus. Computers work fine but are very old models. The hostel is on par with the O and D hostels in Patiala. The mess is average.
Faculty: Half of the faculty are good, and half of them are not. Those who are not teach very poorly; some would sleep in their class. The course curriculum is relevant and does make students industry-ready, but the theory can be changed to be more futuristic. Semester exams are of medium difficulty, but the frequency and scheduling of exams are awful; it's like we spend half our semester giving exams.

Is Thapar worth 25 Lacs?
Placements: Most people from the batch 2023 didn't even get internships as the recession hit Thapar real bad. So, I would say the placement ratio was pretty bad. Though packages were good the highest: was 1 crore, the least was no placement at all an average would be 10 LPA. Companies like Oracle, Optum, BlackRock, American Express, and Microsoft recruited. There were a lot of tech and non-tech roles offered for the batch.
Infrastructure: It's bad. Wi-Fi never works though classrooms are good. The library never got a sufficient number of books or seats. The quality of the hostel is good but the food is very bad like very bad. Medical facilities are almost negligible. The sports and games facility is good and we have tournaments regularly.
Faculty: No, teachers here on the Derabassi campus are arrogant and don't care about students. They just read from PPTs and leave. Though they will help you out a day before exams if you call them and ask about what to study and what to not. The curriculum is relevant from the GATE point of view but from the placement point of view, it's excessively hard. For my recent semester, the passing marks were 35 and almost people failed so I would say the semester exams are very tough and you have to study from the very start of the semester.
Other: I chose this course because I am interested in ML and DL and the best thing about my course is that I have some parts of these in my curriculum. I just wish teachers were better. Only this thing can improve this course a lot as this is not a boring course but the teachers don't teach and they make everything about marks. We have some societies here like Backslash, FAPS, Mudra, toastmasters, etc. And around 2-3 events happen every semester. Regarding scholarships, the top 30-35 students from every course get scholarship based on CGPA after every college year.

It is an average college.
Placements: Around 1,500 out of 1,700 students got placed in our college. The highest salary package offered is 6 CPA. The average salary package offered is 10 LPA. Top roles offered are full stack engineer and data analyst.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi does not work well. Our labs and classrooms are very good and spacious. All equipment is available in our labs. The library is not up to mark, and it is open till 8 pm. It has only a few reference books. The food quality is up to mark. Our campus has a cafe. Medical facilities are not good. Nurses and doctors are rarely available in our college and are not good. Sports and games facilities are very good. We have a football ground, basketball ground, and badminton courts.
Faculty: Our teachers are helpful and knowledgeable. They teach us by using PPTs. Most of them are doctorates. The course curriculum is relevant. Our teachers teach us industrially required subjects like data structures, operating systems, and DBMS from the second year onwards. Exams are moderate, but there are a lot of exams that take place within a semester. Our college conducts many quizzes, mid-semester exams, final semester exams, and lab evaluations every semester. The pass percentage is different every year.
Other: I opted for this course because I am interested in development. Our college should provide more exploration projects. Our college conducts only a few fests and events. Our college strength is 800. The campus is surrounded by farms and factories. Our college provides scholarships to students of up to Rs.1,50,000 - Rs.4,00,000 who score more than 9 CGPA. Our college has many clubs and societies like the toastmasters club, fine arts and photography society, Rotaract club, etc.

It is the most expensive college.
Placements: Placements begin on our campus in the third year of the last semester. Companies like McKinsey and JPMorgan have come to our college for placements. The placement record in our college is good enough and everyone gets placed. Recently, LinkedIn also came for the internship programme. Some major companies that came to our college are Amazon, Microsoft, De Shaw, Arcesium, American Express, and Paytm, which offer some really high packages and good stipends.
Infrastructure: There is a whole separate, very huge, campus building specially dedicated to computer science. Labs are well built, with all the required facilities provided. Teachers are also well versed in knowledge. The Skywalk over our building is a deal-breaker for me.
Faculty: The faculty in our college is not good. Students know more than some of the big professors in our college. We have way too many exams, but that's not the problem. The main problem is that the way these are scheduled is very poor. We sometimes have continuous end-of-semester papers with no breaks or holidays in between.

Good college with great infrastructure but expensive.
Placements: Placements are upto the mark, students are eligible for on campus internships from 6th semester onwards that is 3rd year and for placements in 4th year that is 7th semester. Big companies like microsoft, samsung, zomato and apple etc. have recruited students and offered excellent packages.
Infrastructure: Being a private college and such fees one can definitely expect high quality infrastructure and thapar meets the expectations. With state of the art modern day hostels each with their own mess, gym etc. One can only complain about the Wi-Fi being slow.
Faculty: The teacher student ratio is around 1:20 approximately. Faculty is highly qualified with almost all having a Ph.D. in the field they are currently teaching. Exams here are just like any other college in terms of quantity, roughly 40-50 sessional/tests/viva in each semester which are fairly easy to pass.
Other: Campus life is very exciting and extravagant. There are a lot of clubs/societies in Thapar so can expect 4-5 events each month. There are many sport facilities to support football, volleyball, basketball, cricket table tennis etc.

I am dissatisfied because of some faculty members.
Placements: Placements are pretty good at Thapar University. Around 60-70% of the students got placed in companies, and 10% of the students opted for higher education. The highest salary package offered is around 42 LPA which was given by Microsoft. The lowest salary package offered is about 3-5 LPA, and the average salary package offered is around 5-6 LPA for branches other than computer science. For computer science, the salary package offered is around 7-8 LPA. Almost all the companies come to Thapar University for placements. Even in the covid times, students are getting placed in the top tech companies.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure in the Derabassi campus is quite good. Wi-Fi is a bit slow on the campus. Labs are pretty good on the campus, but still, there is a shortage of some equipment in labs. Classrooms are not that good, and some chairs are broken. Even air-conditioners are of very poor quality and old. The library is very small on this campus as compared to the library on the Patiala campus. Even some books are not available in the campus library. In the hostel, the rooms are very good and clean. Mess food is above average, and medical facilities are good. Sports goods are very easily issued by our sports instructor. Still, there is no indoor badminton court on the campus. Football and cricket grounds are also not that big.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified and experienced on the campus. Teaching quality is average, but some teachers are good as well. The course curriculum for 1st-year is a waste of time as the subjects taught in the first year are of no use to computer science students. They teach energy and environment, chemistry, electrical, electronics, mechanics, physics manufacturing, etc. Semester exams are not that difficult, and you can easily pass them all.

Amazing placement & college life by Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, .
Placements: Many top companies like Apple, Microsoft, De Shaw visited our campus, the highest package offered by companies is 42 LPA & average package is around 12 LPA. 95% students got internship in 3 year in well know companies. Students also get lots of opportunities through research & exchange programme.
Infrastructure: Classroom, labs, library are all good and up to date. Hostels are like hotels with hygienic & clean washrooms. Mess food is also delicious and worthy. Medical facilities are present 24 hours in campus. Ground for football, cricket, badminton, volleyball & basketball is present.
Faculty: Curriculum is relevant and teachers who taught us are very helpful, experienced & knowledgeable. Semester exams in college is moderate not too easy and not too difficult. They made students industry ready. Teachers also motivate & support us to take part in different events and society.

I am satisfied with the college because of its good placements and faculty members.
Placements: All the students from our course got placed. Top companies like Amazon, Apple, DE Shaw, Arcesium, Media.net, Paytm, Rapid, Oyo, Gameskraft, Synopsys, VMware, Cisco, Oracle, and MakeMyTrip visit the college to hire students. More than 200 companies visited the college by the 7th semester this year.
Infrastructure: There is a whole different building for the computer science department with high-end PCs of i7 8th generation. The Wi-Fi speed is descent on the campus. Classrooms are quite huge in our college. The library is quite huge and has almost all the books and publications. Hostels have decent rooms, and the quality of food served in a mess is decent.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are quite knowledgeable, helpful and highly qualified. The college keeps updating the course curriculum every semester, and it is relevant. The quality subjects and flexible electives allow students to follow their passion and make them industry-ready. Semester exams are quite difficult, and because of a large number of students, it becomes difficult to maintain a good CGPA.

It would be hard to get CSE in Thapar with that rank, but if you decide to switch your branch, you can get a seat in Thapar.
