Pune University MSc admission is entrance based. The selection is done on the basis of OEE scores conducted by the University. Candidates need to possess a bachelor's degree from a recognised institute/ university in the relevant field to apply for UniPune MSc admission. At the PG level, UniPune offers a two-year MSc programme in over 20 specialisations. UniPune lowest package placement data is not released. However, according to Savitribai Phule Pune University (PUMBA) placement report 2024, the highest and average package offered during UniPune MBA placements over the past three years are presented below:

UniPune admission to a majority of PG and UG courses is based on the Online Entrance Exam (OEE) conducted by the University. The university offers MCA, MMM, Advanced Diploma, MPH, E-MBA, LLM and M.Lib.I.Sc, among others. Admission to a few courses is completely based on merit in the previous qualifying exam. Savitribai Phule Pune University  (also known as UNIPUNE, Pune University and SPPU), is a collegiate public state university. The list of documents required for Unioune admission and OEE registration are Score card of last qualifying exam, Mark sheet of last semester of qualifying exam, Caste certificate/ non-creamy layer certificate issued by the Government of Maharashtra – for reserved category candidates, Valid income certificate issued by the Government of Maharashtra, and Medical certificate issued by a civil surgeon in case of PwD category. Candidates must have photocopies of these documents.

Both the universities are good. However, let us look at the facts related to both the universities. Talking about the Pune University it has been ranked 23 under the 'University' category by the NIRF in 2024. On the other hand, Mumbai University has been ranked 61 in the same category by the NIRF in 2024. Savitribai Phule Pune University is recognised by UGC, it is popularly known as the 'Oxford of the East'.

SPPU is accredited A grade by NAAC. On a contrary, Mumbai University has been approved by the UGC and AIU, this 160-year old university has bagged A+ Grade via NAAC. Looking at these facts, it can be established that Pune University is a better university when compared to Mumbai University.
