At the PG level, Madras University MSc is a full-time course. This programme is offered with multiple specialisations. Some of the popular specialisations opted often by students are Geology, c. Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Materials Science, Information Technology, among others. The duration of the programme is two years. Moreover, the university segregates all of its MSc specialisations into three different categories as mentioned below:

The university starts regular courses with financial assistance from the government in any form. However, Self-supportive courses are offered by the university without any external assistance from the government, which means, all of the expenses of the programme such as library assistance, laboratory assistance, the salary of the teachers, etc., are covered by the tuition fees of the students.
