The University of Mysore offers MSc (two-year) course in a full-time mode. MSc course is divided into four semesters and is offered at the campus and through affiliated colleges. The affiliated colleges offering MSc are- JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science (JSSCACS), Maharaja's College, University of Mysore, Indian Institute of Fashion and Animation, Bangalore, etc. Additionally, it is offered in multiple specialisations, including Computer Science, Psychology, Mathematics, etc.
Admission to the PG course is entrance-based. Postgraduate Entrance Exam (PGEE) conducted by Mysore University is accepted for MSc admissions. Furthermore, for admission to MSc Biotechnology, the university accepts GAT-B exam scores.
Besides, university also offers MSc IT in distance education mode through the Directorate of Distance Education. Aspirants need to complete BSc degree with Computer Science or Mathematics as one of the optional subjects or any degree with Diploma in Computer Application or BCA/ BTech/ BE in any branch with at least 45% aggregate (40% aggregate for SC/ ST/ CAT-I) to apply for MSc IT.

Candidates need to pay an application fee of INR 400 for PG courses. Besides, candidates irrespective of their category have to pay INR 1,000 separately for entrance exam and INR 2,000 for group subjects. Aspirants need to pay the application fee via any of the online payment modes. Candidates must keep the payment reciept for verification at the time of admission.
University of Mysore conducts Postgraduate Entrance Exam (PGEE) for PG courses admission. PGEE scores are accepted for MSc admission. Candidates have to apply and appear for entrance examinations separately for each program. However, there shall be a single common entrance examination for the following groups of programmes. Aspirants have to qualify in the respective entrance examination by securing a minimum 08 marks in case of SC/ST/ Cat-I candidates, 09 mark in case of OBC and 10 marks in case of other candidates out of 50 marks.
Admissions at the University of Mysore usually commence in May or June (tentative). For the academic year 2025, the admission dates will be released soon. The mode of admission is online for all courses. Mysore University admission is entrance or merit-based depending upon the applied course.
The University of Mysore only offers PG courses on its campus. Besides, all the UG programmes offered here are only provided via the constituent colleges under the university.
