Strong academics, experienced faculty, and excellent campus life.
Placements: 74 percent of students get placed in the campus drive. The highest CTC is around 34 LPA, and the average package is around 11 LPA. Oracle, Airtel, HDFC, and CITI Bank are the top recruiting companies. Around 80–90 percent of students receive internships, commonly offered by Microsoft, Oracle, and Uber.
Infrastructure: The entire campus, including academic blocks, hostels, and the library, is enabled with high-speed Wi-Fi. The department has well-maintained laboratories. Classrooms are spacious, well-ventilated, and equipped with projectors, smart boards, and audio-visual aids.
Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified, knowledgeable, and generally helpful. The curriculum is well-structured and regularly updated as per AICTE and NIT standards, covering all core subjects. Semester exams are moderately difficult and test conceptual understanding rather than rote learning.

    Nice college in Mangalore.
Placements: Internships are provided by various tech companies that come to the college. They offer role which are pretty much what you're expected to get from the college. The time period is for around 2-6 months. The placements are pretty good, with top companies attending them. Companies such as Goldman Sachs, Google, Microsoft, etc., participate in them. The highest package goes around 56 LPA, the average for CSE being around 28 LPA. 95% of them are placed.
Infrastructure: The nightlife is really amazing, the hostel timings are really to our access. The beaches here make the vibe. There are numerous places you could hang out. Gym are open till late evening. There are 12 hostels. In 1st year, triple-sharing rooms are available. In each room, they provide a table, chair, and bed. In the room, they provide Wi-Fi. Mess food is good, it includes all varieties of dishes. Spiritual, dancing, drama. Sports facilities are good, mostly all types of sports facilities are available. There is a huge swimming pool also present.
Faculty: The courses that happen here are just the ones you would get at elite colleges. The courses are top class with the professors who are experts in their subject. 4 years of exams per semester, which are of a moderate level of difficulty. Which comprises 1 midsem, 2 quizzes, and an end-of-semester exam. Faculty to students ratio is about 1:10. The relationship between each other couldn't be any better. The professors are always there to guide and teach you at all times.

B.Tech. in Mining Engineering - Batch of 2026

My review of Mining Engineering at NITK, Surathkal.
Placements: I am a B.Tech mining engineering student from the 2026 batch. On-campus internships are negligible, though a few students secure off-campus internships. For placements, Vedanta & JSW are the major recruiters for Mining. Vedanta gives good packages than any other core company. But they require a maximum gap of 1 year, which means the gap between the 12th/PUC and engineering should not exceed 1 year. Its CTC is 16 LPA ( in 2025) for mining engineers, and other core branch has around 14 LPA (2025).
Infrastructure: Hostels are good. In the first year of B.Tech, 3 students need to stay in a shared room. In the second year, 2 students need to stay in a shared room. In the 3rd & 4th year, students are allotted a single sharing room in mega tower hostels. Now all rooms have LAN facilities, but it fluctuates.
Faculty: Mining department has only around 10 - 11 faculty staff. Few are good and few are worse. Scoring is easy in mining. But for mining engineering, you won't get good materials on the internet or in the library (no good books there for mining), and the professors won't provide lecture materials.
Other: If your ranking is low, then choosing mining engineering at NITK is the best option if you want to study in NITs.

    Insights of NIT Karnataka.
Placements: Nitk mechanical is the best among all NITs in the QRF ranking. It has a placement rate of about 85 percent. Major core companies that came for placements this year were Apple for mechanical with a minor in ECE, L&T, Bajaj, Suzuki, ONGC, and HPCL. IN 2025 the average package for mechanical is 15 LPA. Internship opportunities are abundant across branches with a stipend of roughly 20k to 1 Lakh per month and many PPOs.
Infrastructure: Mechanical depth of Nitk has one of the best infrastructures among all departments. It has all the research related facilities, specialized labs like CAD/CAM, Internal combustion engines, and advanced research labs in areas such as strength of materials, robotics etc. Hostels have double and triple sharing rooms with 2 common washrooms on each floor. Ethernet facility for the internet.
Faculty: Nitk has very experienced faculty members. Associate professors specializing in areas like advanced manufacturing, composite materials, tribology, machines design. The course curriculum is designed in a way that makes a student industry ready. The first 3 semesters of mechanical are a bit easy. It gets difficult after the 3rd semester.
Other: I chose this course because I am very interested with automobile. NITK has the best mechanical department among all NITs. There are 3 cultural fests that are conducted every year. The main annual fest is Incident which is held in March.

    Review of NIT Surathkal College.
Placements: Roughly 85 percent of students got placed, with about 6% opted for masters programs. The highest salary package reached 64 LPA, while the lowest was 6 LPA. Big names like Amazon, AWS, Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Qualcomm, Nvidia, DE Shaw, Goldman Sachs, and Morgan Stanley were all on the list of recruiters.
Infrastructure: Now, our course definitely benefits from some great facilities and infrastructure. The campus had a central library, Wi-Fi access, and digital classrooms, which was nice. The hostel accommodation was quite good, and the meals were pretty tasty, whether you were eating at the mess or the canteen. Don't forget the multi-sports complex!
Faculty: Most of the teachers here had solid experience and good qualifications. The ones who got the most support, definitely the students aiming for job placements. The subjects were mostly entered around the financial sector, especially in areas like accounting and auditing. Overall, the staff seems pretty capable and tends to achieve great results.

Our college doesn't have placements from 2024.
Placements: Placement percentage is around 40-50%. The salary packages offered are the highest package is 32 LPA, the average package is 4.75 LPA, and the lowest is 1-2 LPA. Top recruiters are Infosys, Wipro, TCS, IBM, and Accenture. Internships' exact percentage is not published. Some internships are reported with Wipro only. Top roles offered are software engineer, graduate engineer trainee (GET), systems engineer, IT/technology analyst.
Infrastructure: The University of Mysore provides good academic facilities for the B.Teach in Biomedical and Robotics Engineering, including campus-wide Wi-Fi, well-maintained classrooms with projector support, subject-relevant laboratories for electronics, biomedical instrumentation, robotics, and embedded systems, and a large central library with ample books, journals, and digital resources. Hostel facilities for boys and girls are available and are decent and comfortable, though basic in nature. The mess food is average in quality and affordable, with canteens offering simple meal options.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified, very helpful, and knowledgeable. The quality of teaching is also good. Semester exams are generally described as moderately challenging, requiring consistent preparation rather than last-minute cramming, and the pass percentage is reported to be fairly high, though exact rates differ by department and exam difficulty. In our department, it is quite easy.
Other: I chose the Biomedical and Robotics Engineering course because it uniquely combines engineering with healthcare and emerging technologies like robotics and automation, offering a wide career scope and opportunities for higher studies and research. The best aspects of the course are its interdisciplinary nature, exposure to both biomedical instrumentation and robotics concepts, and the strong theoretical foundation that allows students to shift into IT, core engineering, or healthcare technology roles. I have an interest in Biology also.
