UPES offers BTech courses in Computer Science, Petroleum, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical and others. The institute has been ranked one by QS World University Rankings 2025. More than 50 faculty members have been rated among the World's top 2% researchers. Many faculty are from IITs, IISc and Ivy League. At least 50% marks are required in class 10th and 12th for B.Tech courses at UPES. At least 50% in PCM in class 12th are must. For B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing, you need at least 70% in Class 10th and 12th. At least 70% in PCM is required.

Yes, candidates who have passed Class 10 and Class 12 with at least 50% aggregate and a minimum of 50% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, Maths/ Biology, and English in Class 12 can apply for BTech/ BTech (Hons) course with JEE Main or CUET score. Aspirants must secure at least 50 percentile for admission to through SAT India score. For aspirants who wish to apply with their merit in the last qualifying exam must pass Class 10 and Class 12 with at least 75%-80% aggregate and a minimum of 75%-80% aggregate in Class 12 PCM subjects.
In case a candidate has not appeared for any of the specified exam, he or she can appear for UPESEAT. As soon as the selection round is over, aspirants will need to prove their eligibility by provding necessary documents for verification. Aspirants need to pay a course fee to confirm their seat in the university. UPES BTech fee ranges between INR 9.46 Lacs and INR 18.32 Lacs as per an unofficial source. The fee is calculated based on tuition fee and does not includes other fee components.

UPES BTech admissions 2026 are open around December every year. Selection is based on scores of one of the entrance exams including UPESEAT, JEE, Board Merit, SAT a CUET. UPES Dehradun BTech Admission 2026: How to Apply?
UPES BTech course admission is based on JEE Main/CUET-UG exam. Appear in one of the exams and score at least 45% aggregate marks in Class 12. Below are the steps of admission process:-
- Apply and Appear for JEE Main/ CUET
UPES BTech admissions take place through the JEE Main/CUET. Candidates applying for BTech at the university should apply and appear for the entrance exam. A valid JEE Main score is necessary to seek admission. Candidates should wait for counselling once they’ve taken the exam.
- Apply for BTech admissions at UPES
Once the JEE Main/CUET results are announced, candidates can apply for counselling. In the counselling process, candidates can apply for BTech admissions at UPES. The application fee for BTech admission at the university is INR 2,000, which is non-refundable. The university offers seven specialised courses, and candidates have to choose any one of them. This process takes place online.

UPES BTech admission is finalised once the candidate pays the semester fees for the first semester.
UPES Dehradun BTech Curriculum
1st year BTech curriculum is the same for all specialisations. First semester subjects include Engineering Mathematics I, Physics, Basic Electrical, Programming Basics and Communication Skills. Second semester subjects include Engineering Mathematics II, Chemistry, Engineering Mechanics, Data Structures and Workshop Practice. The curriculum of other semesters differs according to specialisations.

University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES) conducts the examination every year online for the admission of suitable candidates to its various BTech courses. It is a self-financed, UGC and AICTE approved University. Admission in UPES is done through UPESEAT, JEE Main scorecard, and Board merit list. 80% of seats of the University are filled through UPESEAT and the rest 20% are filled on the basis of the JEE Main scorecard and Class 12 result.
