The test is conducted in 2 phases in computer-based mode. The test includes a total of 90 questions, 30 each for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Vel Tech University offers admission to its UG and PG courses via both merit and entrance-based. Those who want to get admission to Vel Tech are required to appear for either the university's in-house entrance exam for Engineering courses. i.e., Vel Tech Engineering Entrance Exam (VTUEEE). In order to get admission to BTech, students can get admission through both merit and entrance-based. Aspirants need to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria in the first place, which is to pass Class 12 with 60% aggregate in the respective subjects or equivalent from any recognised board. Students who get less than 60% aggregate in their previous qualifying exams must qualify for VTUEEE. While those who get more than 60% aggregate will get can direct admission based on their merit performance in their previous qualifying exam.
