Candidates must pass a master’s degree in relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% aggregate or a CGPA 6.5 on a 10 point scale to apply for VIT Chennai PhD programme. Besides, aspirants must also qualify VITREE followed by a personal interview round for admission.
VIT Chennai offers a variety of courses at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels in the fields of Management, Engineering, Science, etc. For each of the above-mentioned streams, only a limited number of seats for its courses. With the ever-increasing competition and limited number of seats, it is slightly hard to get into the university. However, with the right strategy and practice, students can certainly secure their spots at the university. Interested students can start preparing for the accepted entrance exam and apply early to increase their chances at admission.
Admission to the BTech courses in VIT is based on the ranks of the candidates in the VITEEE entrance exam. VITEEE is a computer-based test (CBT). The duration of VITEEE is 2 hours and 30 minutes. There are a total of 125 questions.
35 questions are alloted to Physics and Chemistry each. 10 questions are allotted to Aptitude. 5 questions are allotted to English. 40 questions are alloted to Mathematics (MPCEA)/ Biology (BPCEA).
VIT conducts the VITEEE exam as an entrance test for its BTech courses. Candidates have to pay a fee of INR 1350 for the VITEEE application while applying for the VITEEE exam. This fee is non-refundable. It can be paid by the students online. It needs to be paid before the deadline to apply successfully.

VIT Chennai admission to PhD course is based on entrance-exam. The institute conducts VITREE for admission to PhD course. VITREE is a computer-based test of two hours conducted at the test venue opted by the candidate. Selected candidates are further called for a personal interview round.
