NIRF 2025 Rankings are out. As per the latest NIRF 2025 rankings, NIT Meghalaya ranks #83 under the category 'Engineering'.
A few more updates are given below:
- The IIT JAM 2026 exam for admission to the MSc course is scheduled for Feb 15, 2026.
- The CSAB Special Counselling 2025 Round 3 has concluded with the announcement of the seat allotment results for admission to BE/BTech courses.
- The GATE 2026 registrations are now over for admission to Ph.D. and ME/Mtech course. The GATE 2026 exam will be conducted on Feb 7, Feb 8, Feb 14, and Feb 15, 2026.
- The JEE Main 2026 registration process for admission to BTech, BArch, and BPlan courses is expected to start from Oct 2025 onwards. For session 1, the JEE Main 2026 exam will tentatively be conducted between Jan 21 and Jan 30, 2026.

NIT Meghalaya Highlights 2025
NIT Meghalaya is one of the 31 NITs established under the NIT Act 2007. The college has been categorised as the 'Institutes of National Importance'. It is funded by the Government of India. NIT Meghalaya JEE Mains 2024 cutoffs have been published for admission to BTech, Integrated BTech, and BArch programs. In Round 4, JoSAA cutoffs for 2024 varied between the 20013 and 48731 values. Notably, the B.Tech. in CSE is highly competitive among General category students under the AI Quota.
When we see the cutoff for NIT Meghalaya in 2024 and compare it with the past years, we see that B.Tech. in CSE has shown a decreaseing trend in its final ranks. The Round 4 cutoff for this course was 18905 in 2023 and 17503 in 2022.

The NIT Meghalaya MSc cutoff 2024 has been released across multiple specialisations. Based on the Round 1 seat allotment, the MSc cutoff ranks ranged between 1321 and 1662 for the General AII India category students. Among all the MSc specialisations, M.Sc. in Mathematics is the most competitive. If you are from SC or ST category you don't need to pay any tuition fee you just have to pay hostel and mess, and apart from that, you will get government scholarship from various scheme as per my knowledge what my friends are getting is around 60-70 thousand per year so from that only you can pay your college fee.
If you are from general or OBC category then it depends on your family income, if your family is making less than 2 Lacs you don't have to pay tuition fees but apart from this you can't get any other scholarship.
If your family income is more that 2 Lacs and less than 6-8 Lacs, I don't know exactly then you have to pay only 1/3 of tuition fee.

The nearest airport to NIT Meghalaya is Shillong Airport. It is a one and a half hour drive from the airport. Also, students can choose to travel by train and come to the Guwahati Railway Station. From there, they can take a drive of around 2.5 hours to reach the campus of NIT Meghalaya.
NIT Meghalaya Infrastructure
The campus is spread across 300 acres of land and is equipped with many faiclities. These include the following:
Faculty: NIT Meghalaya has 93 faculty members of which 85 hold PhDs in their respective disciplines. The faculty of NIT Meghalaya consists of Dean, professors, assistant professors, associate professors, etc.
Central Library: NIT Meghalaya library has a vast collection of books covering multiple disciplines such as Engineering, Science, Arts and Humanities, etc. It has over 13,000 books which can be refered by the students and faculty alike for academic and research purposes.
Hostel: There are seven hostels for boys and two hostels for girls. Facilities provided in the hostel include mess, WiFi, Gymnasium, etc.
Computer Centre: The computer centre houses more than 200 high powered computers with the latest hardware and software as well as eight servers.
Sports: The institute conducts regular sports events for students. Facilities are provided for various outdoor games such as football, basketball, cricket as well as indoor games such as badminton, table tennis, LAN gaming, carrom, chess, etc.

The total seat intake of the MSc at NIT Meghalaya is 60. The seats are distributed among the three specialisations in 20. Hostel facilities are not bad but not too good it depends upon several factors that from where you are if you are from home state Meghalaya itself its quite good but if you are from other states the food be little problem to you, other factors if you consider you will get wi-fi, water purifier is there, geysers are there, electricity is available most of the times. In a room nearly 2-3 peoples are sitting. Currently its operating from a temporary campus so all hostels are not at the same place for every course like Ph.D. M.Sc. B.Tech they all are having different hostels, and they are far apart from each other. But possibly we are shifting to our permanent campus to sohra, hostel facilities will be quite good there but again it will be in out area so you will not be getting any thing out there. I think the worst thing about the hostel is the food especially if you are a vegetarian.

NIRF is an approved by the MHRD and was launched by Honourable Minister of Human Resource Development on 29th of September 2015. You can get CSE in GFTI as per the JoSSA counselling cutoff last year. You cannot get any branch, like CSE, ECE in NIT at this rank.
