Between the mountains with supportive faculty members.

Placements: The seats for M.Sc has increased to 20 students. We have supporting faculty members who encourage us in every aspect from career guidance to NET GATE. Edtech companies like Physics Wallah, Allen, etc., are engaged in hiring M.Sc students

Infrastructure: The whole campus and hostel have Wi-Fi facilities available 24/7 which provides high internet speed. There is a library and also an e-library with Wi-Fi and you can access the computers and do your work. Hostel rooms are better than expected. The mess food is above average.

Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified from prestigious institutes. They are also very supportive and kind towards the students. The course is very much similar to NET GATE syllabus. So I can prepare for both while studying for college. College exams are decent, almost everyone clear the paper.

Other: I had an interest in it so I selected the course based on my JAM score. If they could reduce the fee for 2nd semester onward would be better. A beautiful college located in the mountains and everyone dreams of studying. I love this place and college.

A good college environment.

Placements: Some of the top recruiting companies in our batch were IBM, Power Grind, Microsoft, Tata, and Bosch. Most of the job roles offered to us were those of developers and testers. The highest package was by TRC of INR 45 lacs per annum. The average package in our batch was around INR 650000.

Infrastructure: The campus was well-developed with Wi-Fi connectivity, spacious rooms, washrooms, a stocked library, an auditorium, and a hospital facility in case of need. A hostel facility is also available and the mess and canteen both have good, hygiene-quality food. We do have football, cricket, basketball, volleyball and badminton courts available.

Faculty: The quality of teaching is good and the faculty members are quite qualified and, at the same time, quite helpful. They are ready to help and guide the students whenever required. The courses are quite relevant and interesting. The passing percent is 90% and semester-wise exams are held.

The faculty members are good, and the placements are average.

Placements: The placements for the students of M.Sc. physics department are average. We are in the second year, and I'm yet to experience the placement procedure. Only one student who sits in the back bench was placed. Only company that visited the campus to hire the students of M.Sc. physics department was Infosys. The salary offered was 3.5 LPA, which is not good enough. The college provides good internship opportunities. This year, 7 out of 14 students were offered with internships. The stipend offered was Rs. 10,000 per month.

Infrastructure: The institute is enabled with Wi-Fi. The college provides the Wi-Fi facility even in the hostel. The classrooms are small, but the classrooms in the permanent campus are very good. Labs are good, and they are equipped with required machines. The library is small, but it is well maintained. The sports section is good. Every year, the college organises various events. The hostels are clean and well-maintained. The food provided in the hostel is good. The quality of the food served in the canteen is good, and it is affordable.

Faculty: The curriculum is of NIT standards. So it is almost same as most of the other NITs and IITs. The teachers are of high standard, and they are excellent when compared with the faculty of all the NITs. Only five faculty members in the physics department. We don't have many elective choices in the second year. The teachers use blackboards to teach, and sometimes, they even use laptops. My problem-solving skills were improved during my tenure at NIT.

Other: The connectivity is good as the college is located in the heart of Shillong city. The college organises two annual fests named Conginitia and Shishir. The campus is very small, but the new campus is huge. It supposed to be functional from 2019. The scholarships are provided for meritorious students. The institute encourages the students to participate in various activities.

My Review About This College .

Placements: Placement Process was good. 90% of eligible student got placed. Major companies visited here are Goldman Sachs, direct, medlife, well fargo, Mahindra and Mahindra, maruti suzuki, john deere, ashok leyland, mu sigma, l&t, vedanta, tata motors etc. The average package is around 5 Lacs. The college also provides skill development programmes for the students to enhance their skills. College provides internship opportunities to students who are interested in it. Cosmology, relatively gravitation, nuclear Physics surface study, semiconductor technologies are some topics in which a student can intern. There is a criteria of having minimum 7.5 CGPA for sitting in campus placement and then there was a skill test.

Infrastructure: I have an interest in space, so I chose Physics. Our class strength was 46 and the class was quite good to hold enough the students. Staff are good and everyone had finished there Ph.D. They were helpful for us in every one. The Hostel facilities of my college is good. There are two students in a Room both have there own almirah table chair and B.Ed. Enough Hostel seats that means all the students can easily get the Hostel Room and it is less expensive than PGs or Rentals. The mess of the Hostel is very Good.

Faculty: The faculty of the college is highly qualified and dedicated. They teach in a very lucid manner and try to clear the concepts of the students as much as possible. They give more emphasis to student response time and are very helpful and were always available for the help of students and were too good. University exam. Internal exams have 2 cycle test which constitutes 10 internal marks each and model exam carries 20 internal marks. Then 5 marks for assignments and 5 marks for attendance of particular subjects. We will have major courses and non major electives courses.
