The admission process for NIT Meghalaya 2026 is entirely based on the candidate's performance in the entrance exam and personal interview(if required). Candidates are required to first qualify for the eligibility criteria of the courses they are interested in and apply online for the programme. The JEE Advanced 2026 official website has launched with the new eligibility criteria. NIT Meghalaya Application Process
Candidates seeking admission in BTech, MTech, and MSc at NIT Meghalaya are required to complete the application form for the course-specific entrance exam. After appearing for the respective entrance exams, candidates have to apply for the counselling process for the final seat allotment. For the PhD and also MTech candidates must apply via NIT Meghalaya's official website and appear for the institution-based written test and personal interview.
Selection Rounds
For its flagship BTech course, NIT Meghalaya selects students with a valid JEE Main score. Candidates are allotted seats through JoSAA Counselling. Selection for MTech is made through GATE, followed by CCMT Counselling. Similarly, for MSc admission, IIT JAM and CCMN Counselling are required. However, for PhD, both full-time and part-time selection is made through the institution-based written test and personal interview.
Release of Cutoff list, Counselling & Admission Confirmation
The cutoff for BTech, MTech, and MSc courses is released by the respective counselling bodies. The shortlisted candidates are then required to pay the NIT Meghalaya fee to confirm their seats. NIT Meghalaya doesn't have any direct admissionn option. NIT Meghalaya offers a two-year programme in Master of Technology. It is a full-time programme for BTech passed-out candidates. NIT Meghalaya admission to the MTech programme is based on GATE followed by CCMT counselling. However, for MTech sponsored programme candidates must apply via the institution's official website. The Cutoff score for CSE was 492, for the General AI category candidates. Therefore, candidate with the Cutoff score of 450 cannot get M.Tech in CSE at NIT Meghalaya.
