One thing which I have experienced at Apeejay Stya is a strong focus on teacher-student relationship, says Khyati Mittal

My family has always been very different from others. They never asked me to fulfil their ambitions but mine. I was never good at Mathematics, so the Science stream was never an option for me in Class 11. My father is an advocate, so I have always seen him working as a lawyer and I eventually decided on my own that this is what I want to be. I decided to pursue Law while I was in Class 10. So, either Commerce or Arts would have been appropriate streams in Class 11. I chose Commerce thinking of a wider scope after Class 12 exams and in the future, too.

I joined Career Launcher coaching institute in Class 11 only. Besides the regular curriculum of Class 11 and 12, I was also focusing on the preparation of CLAT exam. I was so sure of this career choice that I did not want to waste another year after Class 12 board exams preparing for Law. By doubling the efforts during high school as compared to any other student, I managed to clear the CLAT exam in the first attempt. But, then came the most difficult situation in a students’ life, i.e. choosing an appropriate college for graduation. I am born and brought up in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, and hence, did not want to go beyond Delhi-NCR for the college. Based on my CLAT scores, I was eligible for admission to National Law University but that was quite a distance from my home. So, I picked up the list of law colleges and universities around Delhi-NCR and shortlisted the ones I was eligible for. And, based on the detailed study, I found School of Legal Studies, Apeejay Stya University to be a perfect fit for me. The institute offers admissions based on not just CLAT scores but also students’ performance in a Personal Interview round. And, my merit scores also got me a scholarship as well.

We have a fixed routine from 9:30 am to 5 pm and I never miss any of the classes. I always save my attendance so I can go to my home for a longer duration than usual. Besides classes, I usually spend my time in the library and canteen. The subjects which I love studying are Law of Contract, Company Law and Intellectual Property Rights.

Apart from this, I have always been an active participant in various extra-curricular activities such as, I have been an Anchor in my college fests, I always love to take part in various debates and seminars and I am also the student representative of my batch. I have also taken part in various nukkad naataks. One thing which I have not done so far but would want to do any day is to teach my juniors a subject of my choice. My college has helped me enhance my overall personality in a very broader sense. It bought a sense of responsibility in me to manage things on my own. One thing which I have experienced in this university is a teacher-student relationship. Before joining this university, I never thought that there could be a strong relationship between a teacher and a student in such a way that you discuss anything and everything with them. I have earned mentors in the name of faculties. Moreover, after entering into this university, I realised the sense of being on my own. Before making a final decision, I now evaluate all possible aspects and then conclude my judgment. I have gained confidence and courage while being here.

Apeejay Stya University's law school in Gurgaon is good but the placement is decent. Therefore it is not definitively the best as other strong law schools exist in the area. Your "best" choice depends on what you prioritize (e.g., specific program, placements, fees). You can explore more law college
