Monica has scored a perfect 100 in mathematics, 98 marks in English, 97 marks in Science, 96 marks in Social Science, and 95 marks in Tamil subject. In an exclusive interview with Shiksha.com, Monica talked about her TN SSLC exam preparation strategy, tips for aspirants and more.
Tamil Nadu SSLC Topper Monica S secured a total of 486 marks out of 500 in TN 10th Exams 2023. With an aim to crack JEE advance, Monica wants to become an IITian by joining her dream institute, India Institute of Technology (IIT) Chennai. She has scored a perfect 100 in mathematics, 98 marks in English, 97 marks in Science, 96 marks in Social Science, and 95 marks in Tamil subject. In an exclusive interview with Shiksha.com, Monica talked about her TN SSLC exam preparation strategy, tips for aspirants and more. The Directorate of Government Examination (DGE) TN released the TN 10th Result 2023 today, May 19, 2023, on the official website, i.e. tnresults.nic.in.

Q: Congratulations on your result! How was your reaction after seeing the results? Did you score what you expected?
A: Thank you for the warm wishes! I am really happy and excited that I have scored comparatively well as compared to my sister. My family and I are celebrating. It is fun to enjoy fruits of all the hard work I have done during preparation.
Q: Please tell us something about your family background.
A: My father is the breadwinner of the family and my mother is a Housewife. I have an elder sister doing CA and my mother completely depends on my father for all her needs. This has made me to think many times that why women cannot lead an Independent Life. The thought instilled me to go ahead in fulfilling my desire. I can say that my mother motivated me to study hard and score well.
Q: Please tell about the stream that you are targeting
A: I am targeting for science stream, I love science.
Q: What was your strategy to score above 95%?
A: The strategy I use is simple. I do not skip any of the questions and I understand the concepts clearly. I made sure to clear all the concepts and connect with teachers for doubts. No matter how much you study in school or at coaching, self-study is important.
Q: Did you take any online or offline coaching?
A: No, I did not. Classroom teaching and Self-study is my key to success.
Q: Who encouraged you the most in this journey?
A: My motivation in my Journey is my family and friends. My family always made sure that it give me sufficient time and space to study. The understood the importance of education and helped me concentrate on my preparation and score well.
Q: What was your routine during TN 10th board exam preparation?
A: I have always been that student who studies before the exam. However, I made sure I revise well and make sufficient notes. My school gave many extra classes to make our base strong. I was relaxed through my preparation and made sure that I revise well before exams. I think this was enough for me to score well in TN SSLC exams.
Q: What are your future plans? Which career path are you aiming for?
A: I plan to continue my studies in computer science. I hope to get into IIT. Cracking JEE is my current goal.
Q: What is your favorite subject?
A: My favourite Subject is Science and anything related to that.
Q: Are you planning to begin preparing for any entrance exam?
A: I want to crack JEE advanced and get admission to IIT Chennai.
Q: What is your dream college/institute?
A: My dream college is the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai
Q: What are your future goals?
A: I want to become an AI Engineer and spread proper awareness in the field of Enginneering. Since I come from a rural area, I have to struggle a lot to achieve my goals.
Q: Please share some tips for students prepping to appear in Tamil Nadu SSLC Exams 2024
A: My Social Teacher always insisted me to study the entire syllabus without leaving any of it. In addition, I always have the habit of writing, so that I can avoid even silly mistakes, which can reduce my marks in the examination. Self-study, proper preparation routine and revision is the key to success.

TN board provides a correction option to students in case their name is misspelled in the marksheet. Students have to inform the school authorities, if any errors are found the marksheet. They will guide you to get the errors rectified.

No, TN board does not deduct marks for exceeding the word limit in the board exams. However, marks may be deducted for spelling mistakes and other errors in language papers.

Schools do not have the right to withhold admit card of the studnets for TN class 10th board exam. TN SSLC admit card is issued by the Directorate of Government Examination, Tamilnadu. You can reach out to the TN board, if the school do not provide the admit card.
