Mystory@Raj Parmar

I chose Commerce stream in my Intermediate as I am weak in Maths and more inclined towards business. But Maths was unavoidable. Anyway, since I like accounting and Commerce subjects I opted for Commerce stream.

For pursuing higher studies, I chose MS University, Vadodara as it is one of the top government colleges charging less fee than rest of the colleges and 100% placement record. The highest salary package is nearly Rs 6.5 lakhs which is pretty good for any government college. Also, MS University is ranked second in Gujarat. It has also got 'A+' by the NAAC committee which boosts the students' prospects in securing a good job and salary packages. That’s why I chose MS University.

Another reason for choosing MS University is that Vadodara is not far from my home town plus the facilities provided by the university are great.

How I cracked college admission

Lesson to learn: Never miss the last date.

I got admission in MS University through CMAT score. While preparing for MBA, I took only CMAT exam. I did not take coaching for it but prepared with the help of books by RS Agrawal. I updated my general awareness by reading newspaper.

I would advise future aspirants to take coaching, especially if they are not from science background. I wanted to appear in CAT too but missed the application form submission deadline. Lesson to learn: Never miss the last date.

Secondly, the difficulty level of all the exams are different. For example, CAT will be more difficult than CMAT and MAT. So I would suggest, prepare for CAT so that other exams are easy to crack. Some universities conduct their own exam so keep that in mind too.

I also wanted to study at one of the IIMs but it is really tough to get admission there.

What I gained from my college life

It’s been only 8 months that I joined MS University but the college has already changed me a lot.

I'm studying MBA in MS University, Vadodara and I spend majority of my time attending lectures. During the break-time I spend my time in the canteen.

My college’s MSF Forum, a students’ forum, is an excellent medium for students to learn and improve their personality. The forum is run by students and every student can make their contribution. The recently held event, Yuvantas, was organized by the students under MSF.

If I were given a chance, I would like to participate in sports activities and would also like to participate in more industrial visits as they help the students in gaining technical exposure and industry knowledge. I really like to attend Financial Management lectures because I get to learn a lot about companies and the market. I also like to attend Business Environment lectures.

It's been only 8 months that I joined MS University but the college has already changed me a lot. Now I see things with finance and marketing perspective. I am able to give presentations on anything confidently.

We also participate in events of other faculties of our university which help us discover and learn many new things. From our university's BBA faculty event BBA Baazigar we learnt many things and used the learnings to improve our event.

If I could change one thing in our college then it would be to improvement in infrastructure. I would like to have all the modern facilities that other B-Schools have.
