A college with good campus and faculty members but poor placements.

Placements: Placements in the college are bad form the point of view of students, but it is the best college for placements in the region. Roughly, around 50-60% of students get placed, and the major chunk is from CS and IT with around 90% of students and then comes EC and EE with around 60% of students. Placements are really bad for mechanical wherein, just about 10-15% of students get placed. The highest salary package offered was around 8-9 LPA, the lowest was around 1.50 LPA, and the average was 2.40 LPA. Many companies like Infosys, Tech Mahindra, VM Ware, Capgemini, HGS visit the campus for placements. While around 80% of the companies are from tech support background and you wish or not, you have to take part in the drives and secure a job. There is a dedicated placement cell but the placement directors keep on changing every year, and that's sort of a problem for the students, and the placement cell is more keen on increasing offers for the students.

Infrastructure: The campus is very beautiful. It is the best college in this region, but it is far from the city which is both a plus and a minus. Classrooms are decent with a capacity of 60-70 students with projectors enabled in all. The library is very useful which has almost all books for one to refer. The campus has an in-house medical room with an assigned doctor. The mechanical department has a dedicated lab block and has all the types of equipment. There are 2 separate hostel areas guarded 24*7 with 3 blocks each. The canteen is very bad with respect to hygiene and quantity, but there are really very good restaurants outside the campus at stone throw distance.

Faculty: Majority of the faculty members are well-educated and really helpful and friendly while some differ. Teaching quality is good with respect to the course curriculum. The student-faculty ratio is almost 25:1. Industry exposure was quite less in our tenure and might change in the future. The course curriculum is a setback because the college is affiliated to VTU and nothing can be changed regarding this.

Other: Annual intercollege fests are held for about 3 days in February. Campus crowd is really friendly, and you can only see greenery around the campus which is a good ambience for a college of this stature. Think wisely before joining this or any VTU college, try for an autonomous college instead. If you have made up your mind for joining this college, then choose your stream wisely. If a placement is what you seek after 4 years, then join CS/IS instead, or even EC is fine. If you are passionate, then you can take up mechanical.
