B.A. (Hons.) in Philosophy - Batch of 2025

Hansraj College is a beautiful place.
Placements: There are no recruitments in our course. My course is Philosophy  (Hons.) which is generally inclined toward future academy sessions and does not provide jobs in the direct market. However, one can do some useful internships and learn some skills and then can only get a job in other fields.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is the best part of our college. We have a three-floor library, which has a lot of diversity in terms of books and journals. Every classroom has an air-conditioner and projector. The paint is also very classy. There is no extra fee for the library. We also have a gym with a monthly subscription.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. Out of 10, I would rate 7 out of 10 for them because some professors are very strict in their ideology and in their approach. The course curriculum is only relevant if you are keen on philosophy and it does not make students industry-ready. Semester exams are moderate to hard, but generally, they are moderate. Most of the students pass the examinations with a decent percentage.
Other: I chose this course because of this college. I got admission to one of the best colleges at Delhi University. Coming from a humble background in Uttar Pradesh, I did not have this opportunity there. Initially, I selected the college as the sole criterion to get admission. I was not fully satisfied with the course at first, but now I am able to understand the subject. There is a need for a more inclusive and holistic approach to philosophy. Islamic philosophy should also be introduced in the course curriculum. A lot of events take place in our college daily. Fests organised are rare, and we did have one in 2023. The campus crowd is actually very diverse, with students from various regions and religions. We have good metro facility. Scholarships are provided based on merit and the economic status of the students. The college conducts numerous extracurricular activities. Many societies are working in our college in various domains like social, political, and corporate.

Viewing Hansraj College through an eye of its third year student.
Placements: I'm pursuing a philosophy degree, so there is less scope for college placement. However, students graduating with commerce get placement. I don't have any idea, as in our courses we don't get any placement. In college, we have a lot of opportunities for internships, but for this, we need to have IT skills and frequently visit the college website for updates.
Infrastructure: Every classroom has air conditioning (AC), and there is a digital board as well as a as a manual board. Our library is at the top of the list among other colleges in DU because of its facilities, such as the availability of all magazines and newspapers and separate rooms to study them. Desktops are available in separate rooms and separate halls for arts and science students (we can study in any of them, no matter what course we are pursuing), and getting books from the library is very easy and fully digital. In 2024, you may not get a hostel facility because it is under construction. Although hostel facilities are given to top scores from each course, the hostel fee is too high (8 to 9 thousand), and we have to give all of it at once for a year. The canteen is very good, with a variety of food and is fully air-conditioned. Apart from that, there is also a canteen run by physically handicapped people called Mitti Cafe. Hostel food is also very healthy and tasty, but it is available only to hostel students. I'm not sure about medical facilities, but there is a government hospital nearby. annual sports event named Kelo Hansraj, held every year. Anyone can participate with it's team in each course. Football, basketball, volleyball, cricket, etc. are held in this grand event.
Faculty: Our teachers are like our parents; they are always ready to help us in every situation. They are literally very caring, and their qualification level is top-notch. Nobody can match their level. Philosophy is about understanding life very closely and understanding different perspectives of great people's and religions regarding it. Philosophy is one of the optional papers in UPSC, so we can master it during our graduation period. We can also go for a master's and later go into the teaching profession. Exams are very easy, but there is no scope for cheating during semester exams. Questions are directly asked based on our syllabus, so we just need to stick to our syllabus. Marks are given in CGPA.
Other: - different factors made me choose this paper: my inclination towards spirituality and religion, Im preparing for UPSC, and it is one of the optional papers of UPSC getting understanding about life. I recommend you do yoga-like activities in your daily life that provide you with stability and a better understanding of the mysteries of the world. Annually, a festival happens that is conducted by student unions, and students from all colleges participate, making it very good. NSS also conducts Diwali Mela in our college, which is very beautiful and a huge crowd comes for it. There is a theater within our college in which we generally find events in our day-to-day lives. Vishwavidyalaya metro station is the nearest metro station. 1st year students must go for the Reliance scholarship, which is about 3 to 4 lacs and can be availed of through an easy test. There are different societies in our college, such as Nishitha, debate society, Kavyanjali, NSS, and NCC (these are very famous). Apart from it, there are many more societies. The north campus is very beautiful, with the Kamla Nehru ride, Buddha Park, Law Faculty, and the roads that are full of students from top colleges at DU. Markets: Kamla Nagar Market and Malkaganj. Room availability outside college: at a cheap rate in Malkaganj, at high rates in Kamla Nagar, and at a very cheap rate in Gurmundi.

Hansraj: the place of ark.
Placements: The placement of my course is average, and half of the talented students get placement in various institutions. The highest package of my course is about 20 LPA, the average is about 6 LPA, and the lowest is 5 LPA. Overall, the package of the Hansraj College of Philosophy department is dependent on the talents of students in their field.
Infrastructure: separate departmental room and library for the philosophy department equipped with digital learning and Wi-Fi. The food menu of Hansraj College is the best among all colleges, but the college hostel is totally vegetarian, and it's an issue for the non-vegetarian students. Medical facilities is always available in the college and there is a big sports field for the students.
Faculty: Most of the teachers in my department are alumni of Delhi University and Jawahar Lal University, and they are very open and liberal thinkers. The course curriculum of the philosophy department is framed in the footprints of global universities. ! The course is relevant, makes students critical thinkers and makes ready for work in any industry In 2022, the semester examination is of medium level, and the syllabus is easily covered within the two months. The pass percentage is 33 in both theory and practical examinations.
Other: Debating society: I like it the most. NSS: pride of Hansraj. Nishtha society is the essence of all students. Fest of Hansraj : one of the best in Delhi university .

Our college has a good infrastructure.
Placements: Hansraj College successfully completed another great year of placements for the 2019-20 academic year. The session ended on a high note with a significant rise in the number of recruiters and the number of offers made. The institute witnessed the participation of well-known companies, including regular recruiters like the Big 4, McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group, Brain Capability Network, DE Shaw, and United Airlines. The highest salary package offered was 20.5 LPA by DE Shaw, followed by Futures First, which offered a salary package of 12.4 LPA, whereas the average salary package offered was 5.7 LPA.
Infrastructure: Hansraj College is renowned for its magnificent buildings and infrastructure. Our college has 6 computer labs, 18 science laboratories, and several commerce labs. It also has a beautiful lush-green playground, a sports complex, an amphitheater, an auditorium, a seminar hall, and a clean and hygienic canteen.
Faculty: Academics of Delhi University are good. We have renowned faculty members. Our course structure is updated and we have all new technology to use, which makes us job-ready. The course curriculum is relevant. It also makes students ready for the outside world.

The college has really good infrastructure.
Placements: Most of the students in our college are busy with preparing for civil service examinations, so very few students sit for placements. Mostly, B.Com economics students take part in placements. The college was number 1 for commerce in the past, but now, its ranking is going down.
Infrastructure: My department is new, and ours is the 2nd batch of the philosophy department. The hostel is good, and the food quality is a bit low. Only vegetarian food is provided in hostel mess and canteen. Medical facilities are not up to the mark. Sports and games are good, with a big playground.
Faculty: All the professors are very good and helpful. If students study for at least half to one hour every day, they will pass the semester examinations with very good marks. Some of the professors are very good, and they treat us like their own children. They never compromise with our studies.

Hans Raj College - An institution that values philosophy .
Placements: Hans Raj college is known to offer noteworthy placements in the entire Delhi University circuit. With average placements at Rs. 7 Lacs per annum /-, the college placement cell is very active in providing a 50:50 gender ratio at the recruitment every year. Since B.A. Philosophy is a new course in the college. The placements for the senior students have not been done as of now. However, seeing the past records, the placements for the course is expected to remain in accordance with all humanities courses, I. e, 5 Lacs per annum. The top recruiters that come to the college are McKinsey & Co., Boston Consulting Group and Accenture Strategy among many others. The college's distinguished alumni are a testimonial to the great placements the students of Hans Raj enjoy.
Infrastructure: The top-notch infrastructure of the college caters to every need of the Philosophy Department with state-of-the-art facilities - from air-conditioned classrooms, seminar rooms, departmental rooms, an auditorium for numerous activities and interactive learning to a fully digitalised library system with thousands of books and commentaries on all aspects of philosophy. The Hostel accommodates 200 male students with modern facilities for residence. There is no girls' hostel in the college, though talks on its construction are in consideration.
Faculty: The faculty of the Philosophy Department is highly qualified in their roles, most of them are Ph.D. holders. Their teaching techniques involve a debate-oriented approach as philosophy as a subject needs questioning and argumentative replies. The curriculum is followed the guidelines of the University of Delhi. It covers philosophy from different aspects - from the ancient to modern approaches, relevance with the modern world, its scope, ethics in the public domain, critical thinking and reasoning etc. The exams occur every semester. The exam system is structured into written ones (75 marks per subject) and Internal assessments (25 marks per subject). It is not very difficult to pass them, at least for people from a humanities background.
Other: The course involves exceptional thinking and logical analysis of real lie situations which can help a person to explore more of his/her opinions, and was the sole factor that drove my interest towards it. Also since the contents of the course includes ethics, logical reasoning and debates, it is very scoring optional for UPSC Mains Examinations. The fests are also a major talk point of the college, with a whopping high budget and extra-curricular activities. The crowd is very diverse in Hanrsaj, with people from almost all the states of India, and also foreign students.

Hanrsaj - a college deep-rooted in philosophy.
Placements: The Department of Philosophy is the most recently established in Hansraj College, and B.A. (Hons) in Philosophy as a course got introduced in 2020 itself. The first batch is yet to pass out, so not much can be said about the placements as of now. However, seeing the past recruiters of the college, brands are consistently rooting for Philosophy graduates in Public Relations, Human Resource Management, and other job profiles other than Teaching, the course is expected to SEE high placements. As the objectives of the course, direct research-based original solutions and present argumentative reasoning in logistics and content departments, recruiters such as Byjus, and Accenture are keen on placing Philosophy graduates from Hansraj.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is of high quality and above all the other colleges of North Campus, University of Delhi. The Philosophy department has a well-air-conditioned departmental room, equipped with all features of a high-tech conference hall - from projectors to research material for philosophy. Storage cabins for teachers as well as students are provided. The college library has an ample number of books, readings, and published journals - both national and internationally available. The digitalized Library system enables the students to issue any book of their interest conveniently. All Classrooms in Hanrsaj are well ventilated with air conditioners and equipped with high-tech projectors for audio-visual presentations.
Faculty: Though the Philosophy Department is new, the faculty here is well experienced in their major. Associate Professors, as well as Assistant professors, have themselves published many journals for international as well as national publications, which depict their in-depth knowledge of the subject. Their teaching approach is very inclusive and interactive as philosophy as a subject requires debating, and classroom discussions are more than just making you understand a text. The teachers excel in their technique to establish a healthy student relationship. The curriculum for the course deals with various aspects of philosophy - from its origin, Differentiation, and comprehensive theories to practical applications in the modern-day. The subjects include Indian Philosophy, Greek Philosophy, Ethics, Logic, Applied Ethics, Feminism, Aesthetics, etc. It helps to inculcate both modern and traditional versions of philosophical debates that can ignite a practice of evaluative analysis and research. Exams are conducted at the end of every semester. Each core subject is marked for 75 marks. Other than the semester examinations, internals is of 25 marks, where assignments, paper presentations, and discussions are given in groups to assist teamwork as well as highlight individual opinions.
Other: Hansraj College probably has the most diversified crowd in Delhi University and caters to the needs of students of all aspirations - from civil service aspirants to people aspiring to do theatre and modeling. There are 60+ societies in the college, patronized by the college authorities that promise a personality development unmatched by any other college in India.

It has good Infrastructure, facilities, and good placements.
Placements: Hansraj provides good placements, especially in B.Com. The highest salary package goes from 30 LPA to 35 LPA. The salary package depends upon your course and how you perform. If you are giving 100%, you'll surely get your results.
Infrastructure: Hansraj has one of the finest infrastructures on the North Campus. It has a well-managed hostel facility for boys. The hostel fee is slightly high, but the quality of the things it provides are up to the mark. The hostel has a personal gym and a good mess.
Faculty: Everything is done on time and you don't need to worry about it. The thing you need to worry about is your studies. Teachers are good.
