IIIT Allahabad accpets JEE Main score for admission to the BTech courses. As per the IIIT Allahabad cutoff 2023, the Last Round closing rank for BTech ranged between 5924 and 9558, among which Information Technology was the most competitive specialisation. The Round 1 closing rank for BTech ranged between 4817 and 8428 for BTech. 

So, considering the previous year Round 1 and the Last Round closing ranks, candidates seeking admission to IIIT Allahabad must secure a rank over and above 4800 and 9600 for the General ALL India category candidates.

The admission is entrance-based at the institute. Aspirants are required to apply with a valid score of the course-specific accepted entrance examination in order to apply. Candidates taking admission to an MTech programme shall have a valid BE/BTech degree in a relevant discipline with at least 60% aggregate (55% for SC/ST) from a recognised university. The candidates wanting to pursue M.Tech from IIITA need to take the GATE exam. Candidates with a valid GATE score are called for the CCMT Counselling rounds based on cutoff marks. Further, based on performance in the counselling round, seat allotment is carried out.

IIIT Allahabad is a tier 1 institute and IIIT Lucknow is a tier 3 institute. The academic session of IIIT Lucknow was started in 2015 by the mentor Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad campus. IIIT Allahabad is an autonomous institute whereas IIIT Lucknow is run by public-private institutions.

IIIT Allahabad is known to rank 87 as per NIRF 2024 BTech ranking. India Today 2024, on the other hand, ranks IIIT Allahabad on rank 10. 

As per the placement report, both the institutes recorded 100% placement rate in their flagship programme i.e. BTech. IIIT Lucknow offered the highest package of INR 62 LPA for the BTech programme and the highest package offered during IIIT Allahabad BTech placements 2024 was INR 121 LPA.

Admission to the MBA course is on the basis of CAT/XAT/CMAT/GMAT/MAT, followed by a personal interview (PI) round. The selection procedure is completed and carried out as per the IIIT Allahabad criteria. The institute has not released the official cutoff for the MBA course. Candidates seeking admission to the MBA programme should qualify for the basic eligibility criteria, which is a bachelor's degree of a minimum 3-year duration with at least 50% aggregate or equivalent CGPA (45% for SC/ST category students).
