IIIT Bhopal has three departments, including Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology and Electronics and Communication Engineering that collectively offer a full-time UGC-approved B.Tech programme. IIIT Bhopal admission is primarily entrance-based. The candidates are selected through national-level examinations conducted by different authorities. IIIT Bhopal was established in 2017, to encourage students to pursue higher education, research, and training across various fields of Information Technology.

The campus of the institute is under construction. It comprises all the basic amenities, including a library, sports complex, labs, Wi-Fi, etc.

Courses such as BTech offer around 450+ seats spread across 7 specialisations, whereas, MCA offers 60 seats for admission every year.
