IIIT Kancheepuram offers three specialisations for MDes programme, Product Design, Mechanical System Design, and, Communication System Design. Admission to these specialisations is entrance-based and depends on candidates' performance in the Common Entrance Exam for Design, popularly known as CEED, conducted by  IIT Bombay. Also before applying to the programme, candidates need to qualify the eligibility criteria: Bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Design/ Architecture (under 10+2+4 years regular) with a minimum aggregate of 60% (55% aggregate in case of SC/ ST/ PwD) or equivalent grades in the qualifying degree.

IIITDM Kancheepuram seat intake for MDes programme is 20 seats, which is the least in comparison to the other UG And PG programme offered by the Insitution. IIITDM Kancheepuram M.Des fees is INR 2.2 lakh. This fee information is sourced from the official website/ sanctioning body and is subject to change.  Apart from the mentioned tuition fee, candidates also need to pay a one-time fee of INR 5,000. The cne-time payment includes the admission fee, certificate/ thesis fee, student welfare fee, infrastructure development fee, alumni life membership fee, publication fee/ library fee and cultural fee.
