The college is very good in every aspect.

Placements: We have a very good campus placement, and it is the key point over here. Last year, we had around 36 placed out of the batch of 58 from our department. Other departments have good placements too. All the mining engineering students got placed. In every other department, a good number of students placed. The record was good last year ranking the highest in the placement of all years in IIT ISM.

Infrastructure: It is feasible while sometimes it is not. We have sufficient hostel seats, and we have 2 sharing rooms only no other sharing rooms. The hostel is good and spacious mess food is good. Starting from breakfast to dinner, we are provided 3 times food in a day. The food is very hygienic and well-cooked.

Faculty: The faculty are very good and cooperative. Usually, at such stage, nobody shows much concern. But in our case professor are very strict towards their classes and are student oriented. We have seminars from time to time as well as and viva held for our overall knowledge test and sincerity.

Other: The network of alumni is very strong. Even we have an association with 25 years back alumni people. They come and visit in a year once. Even we have a fest called Basant for the senior-junior relationship. Even senior contribute to our freshers and various other issues.

M.Tech. in Mining Engineering - Batch of 2019

I am very satisfied because of good infrastructure and good extracurricular activities provided.

Placements: Placements are good here but not outstanding. In 2019, about 2 students got placed in Vedanta, while about 5 students got placed in SMS Group. B.Tech has more priority than M.Tech students in placements. In the previous year also, the scenario was the same. About 2 students got placed in Vedanta, whereas about 5-7 students got placed in SMS Group. There is a placement cell, and it tries to encourage B.Tech students for placements. Vedanta offers a salary package of 8 LPA, and SMS Group offers a salary package of 4 LPA.

Infrastructure: ISM has an outstanding infrastructure. It has huge classrooms, well-equipped labs and 2 huge playgrounds for cricket, football and hockey. There are also basketball, volleyball and tennis courts. ISM requires a special coach for all these games. The student activity centre is also available where badminton court, gym, rugby, yoga club, dance club and many more clubs are available. Every hostel has a Wi-Fi facility. ISM has Asia's hugest centrally air-conditioned library.

Faculty: I know only about the mining department. ISM has blessed with a group of versatile professors. ISM is doing extensive research work regarding slope stability, ventilation, blasting, mine planning and optimisation engineering. All professors have a minimum of a PhD degree from India or outside India. Now, the mining department has a total of 20 professors. There is a total of around 150 students in a batch in courses of B.Tech, M.Tech and dual degree.

Other: ISM is well-known for its cultural events. Basant is an alumni meet, which is usually organised in the month of February, and Srijan is an annual cultural fest organised here. Every department organises its own technical fest every year. There are very good facilities for sports like cricket, football, badminton, basketball, volleyball and tennis. ISM has a lush green and peaceful campus. Now ISM has restricted outsiders from entering the campus, and now the campus is closed, so it is not much crowded.
