The year 2023 cutoff ranks for B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering at IIT Dhanbad (ISM) other than General category are 2938 for OBC, 1589 for SC, 638 for ST, 1136 for EWS. No, IIT Dhanbad BTech admission is strictly entrance based. Admission to IIT Dhanbad BTech is allotted on the basis of candidates' performance in JEE Main exam, candidates who qualify IIT Dhabad JEE Main cutoff are then required to appear for JEE Advance followed by  the counselling round conducted by JoSAA. JEE Main is also the eligibility test for JEE Advanced. Only those candidates who have qualified for JEE Main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced entrance test for admission to IIT Dhanbad BTech courses. To seek admission to the BTech programme offered at IIT Dhanbad, candidates need to visit the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and fill out the application form in online mode for JEE Main. 

The 2026 BTech admission deadline at IIT Dhanbad has currently not been disclosed. However, the BTech admissions at IIT Dhanbad generally close with the registration deadline for the JEE Advanced.

The best placement rate in 2025 was recorded for BTech Environmental Engineering, wherein the placement rate was 100%. It was followed by BTech CSE and BTech ECE with placement percentage of 92.14% and 90.09%. For BTech Double Major degree, the placement rate in 2025 was 100%.

The placement rate recorded during BTech + MTech placement 2025 was 100%, except Civil Engineering, wherein the placement rate was 50%.

The placement rate recorded during Integrated MTech placements 2025 for Applied Geology, Applied Geophysics and Mathematics & computing branches was 87.5%, 81.82% and 90.91%.

To get admission to IIT Dhanbad, students must secure a rank as per the cutoff list and according to the category they belong to to avail admission at this institiute. IIT Dhandbad JEE Advanced cutoff 2025 for the General AI category candidates was released for all rounds and courses. 

 As per the cutoff ranks for the General AI category candidates, the overall closing cutoff varied between 3348 for BTech (CSE) and 18368 for Integrated BSc + MSc in Physical Science. Therefore, students seeking admission to the college must have a JEE Advanced rank of at least 18368 or preferably below, if belonging to the All India category.
