Placements: The highest salary package offered was 92 LPA, the lowest was 9 LPA, and the average package was 32 LPA. Top recruiters were Microsoft, Google, and some other start-up companies. 80% of students were placed. 80% of students got internships in design. After graduation, we can choose a career in UI/UX, product, vis com, or animation design.
Infrastructure: The campus is beautiful, with lots of trees and flowers. The weather is extreme, with very hot and very cold temperatures. But the students are great, and there are lots of clubs where we can learn new things.
Faculty: The faculty are highly experienced and have assembled a well-rounded curriculum. Students are given many assignments, which help them learn and explore. Most of the faculty are friendly with the entire class, and interacting with them helps students learn.

Teachers are all very knowledgeable and experts in their field. Placements are really good.
Placements: Placements are really good. Almost 90 percent of students get placed with really nice packages. The average for my course is around 16 LPA. It goes up to 40 LPA. The lowest is 12 LPA. Top companies are Google, Microsoft, IBM, Myntra and Flipkart etc. The top roles offered are interaction design, UX design and product design.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure are nice but definitely can be better. We have poor Wi-Fi within the department due to its location. Hostel Wi-Fis are fine, but rooms are very small to stay in. Sports facilities are really good, but yes some of it can be improved.
Faculty: Teachers are all very knowledgeable and experts in their field. They are ready to help with anything. Course curriculum is a bit vague for the first 2 years but after that, it becomes very good as students choose their domain and start working on that. For our course, exams are open ended and pass percentage is above 95%.
Other: We have an amazing campus life and culture here. I chose this course as I liked to be in the creative part of the industry. Hostel rooms can be improved definitely. We have alcheringa which is the biggest fest in N. E.

Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati is a great college.
Placements: Out of 42 students, at least, 32 were placed. The rest either found placement opportunities on campus or are pursuing further studies. The highest salary package offered would be 50 LPA, and the lowest would be 8 LPA - 9 LPA. Top recruiters will include Microsoft, information Edge, Atlassian, Razorpay, MMT, PayTM, and many more. From our course, the internships were low, but that was the fault of the college. The Internships didn't impact the final placements. A lot of students didn't have any internships.
Infrastructure: All the necessary things are provided to us. We have good classrooms, a great library, a lot of food places like Cafe Coffee Day, Subway, and then a few off-brands, but the food served is great. Medical facilities are on point. A lot of sports activities and places are around the campus.
Faculty: All the faculty members are well versed in their fields. Though, there might be 1-2 who even though might be good in their fields, are not that great teachers of sorts. Though, all the members are at least knowledgeable and can help out. The course is one of a kind at the moment, where you get an introduction to various fields of design through your course, every semester. Then you have the option to pursue a specific field. The annoying bit is that the first year also has engineering courses, which in their own right are good, but, aren't required in the curriculum as they do not help out in any way and are one of the main reasons for a lot of students' GPA drop. Semester exams are pretty apt.
Other: Joining this college would be the best decision of your life because IIT Guwahati has a different feel altogether.

IIT Guwahati is the most beautiful college in India.
Placements: Almost 95% of the students who applied for campus placements got selected. The highest salary package offered is 35 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered is 8 LPA. Top recruiting companies like Microsoft, DE Shaw, Sprinklr, Nutanix, AppDynamics, Myntra and Flipkart visit our college for placements. Roles like UI UX and product design are offered to the students. Above-mentioned companies visited our college for an internship for 3rd-year students. More than 80% of the students got an internship at our college.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are equipped with smart technology. Wi-Fi facility is installed at most of the common buildings and areas. North Indians face problems to have food at Guwahati in mess and canteens. The local food doesn't appeal to all. There are properly maintained sports equipment and playgrounds.
Faculty: The learning in B.Des is more DIY based on the professors guiding the way. The course curriculum allows students to explore their interest in various design fields and career opportunities. Various courses across different fields are taught to cover several aspects of design learning, including graphic, animation, HCI, etc.
Other: IIT Guwahati is the best college if one wants to enjoy their college life with natural beauty and pollution-free environment.

Pleased to invest my 4 year, best faculty, good placement and high study standards.
Placements: Placement in DOD is on par with other departments in the institute, more than 90% of students get placed and the average salary is around 9 lac. Some of the companies recruited from our department are Samsung, Oracle, Flipkart, TCS, Accenture and nearly 100% of students get internships in good companies. Samsung research institute (India ) too come to our campus. The highest package soar up to 15 lac and our average package is increasing every year. Placement wise this department is on the best in the institute. Many of them are working in top positions in the companies. Successful companies like housing. Com also came for recruitment, cognizant, Direct and many more. Many of our alums are working in big companies like Google.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure is good, there is LAN. Wi-Fi available 24*7, room are good and caretakers are very helpful. We have a huge library and every hostel have entertainment facilities you can watch TV and can play many games. Food provided by the mess is good and hygienic. Medical facilities are also available we have our hospital, which provides good treatment facilities. A lot of sports facilities are available, you have plenty of options to choose. Every department has their labs that have a good number of tools available to them. Classroom are well maintained and last our campus is very beautiful.
Faculty: Teacher are very helpful, they are highly qualified and always ready to help you in any situation. The teacher are very experienced and have a deep knowledge about the subject, they are well updated they know what new is going in the market and make sure that very student have practical exposure of the market. They put lot of efforts in the class and make sure no one left out. Curriculum is also well updated cover each and every important concept about designing and lot of what taught to us play very critical role in business environment. Well connection with industries give us good exposure about the practical things. No doubt that the curriculum make the student ready to face the industry challenge in effective and efficient manner.

It is one of the best places to get all-round development.
Placements: Almost 25 students out of 31 students 25 got placed. The average salary package offered was 12 LPA. Companies like Microsoft, Amazon, cognizant, MakeMy Trip, Dell, etc., visited our campus for placements. Managerial roles were offered to students in the above-listed companies. Around 75% of students were offered internships.
Infrastructure: The college provides state-of-the-art facilities like digital lectures. The entire department block is enabled with Wi-Fi facility. There are advanced simulation laboratories. Professional-grade tools are available in the laboratory. There are playgrounds for various sports like cricket, badminton, basketball, squash, football, lawn tennis, etc. There is an auditorium for amusements. The food served in the mess and canteen is good, some of which work until 3 am.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are well trained and qualified. All the instructions are provided through video lectures and using various graphical interfaces. The detailed course structure as usually varies from each department. The course curriculum is followed as per the highest standards.
Other: The college also organises extracurricular activities. They also organise events like technique, which is a technical festival and Alcheringa, which is an annual cultural festival. Sports events like spirit, inter IIT, there is great participation. Manthan is the event organised in our college, in which the hostel students put their heart to win.

Review of IIT Guwahati - a place with great peers, infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: All the eligible students from my batch (of 2016) found a job within the 1st week of placement season. In fact, there were companies who couldn't fill all their openings due to their not being enough eligible students. The salaries offered were in the range of 10 - 20 LPA with most companies offering bonus and other benefits on top of the base salary. IITG has an excellent placement record, with a dedicated placement cell which consists of a central group of students in addition to representatives from each department, which almost guarantees a well paying job provided the student is in good standing I. e. maintains a good GPA (> 6.0 at the bare minimum) and some relevant internship experience. Most students at least have 2 internships, one in the summer after each of their 2nd and 3rd years. The 3rd year internship is particularly valuable and the placement cell also helps students in getting these opportunities.
Infrastructure: IITG has a new sprawling campus with an expansive academic complex, sports complex and activity center for extra-curricular activities. Each department is awarded a block in the academic complex which is being constantly expanded to accommodate new labs and workplaces. All classrooms are equipped with AV facilities and most lectures are based on presentation. Wi-Fi can accessed across the entire campus. IITG has good infrastructure for sports, and a lot of resources are dedicated towards sports, particularly for the Annual Inter-IIT Sports meet which is held in December every year. The level of competition in Inter-IITs is quite high, and students are highly encouraged to participate. In addition, there are annual inter-hostel sports competitions held every year. The activity center is well-equipped for all types of cultural activities including music and dance. The center also houses a food court with decent options. Most students are housed in a single room in the hostels. Hostels are well maintained and have their own mess, a separate canteen for on demand food which is open until 2am every night, laundry facilities, well maintained bathrooms, a sports room, a TV room, a library / reading room and a meeting room.
Faculty: To the best of my knowledge, all faculty in IITG have a Ph.D. The curriculum for the common courses that I took in my first year was challenging, but covered a lot of material. To elaborate, comparing the curriculum of the first year courses to courses at elite universities in the US, I have the impression that the courses in IITG are more challenging and prepares the student well for the subsequent years. The curriculum in the Department of Design has undergone significant changes since I graduated. In addition, students cannot enroll in the IITG Dept. Of Design by qualifying through JEE. The new curriculum appears to be more focused on visual design and the department appears to be shifting towards becoming a more art + design school, as opposed to being focused on HCI and Interaction Design. As a result, this might also have an impact on placements.
Other: I think the most valuable part of my education in IITG, and for that matter in any IIT is the group of peers that you learn with. You'll immediately find people who are more talented or smarter than you, better at sports or other extracurriculars than you (even though you've been practicing for the past 10 years) and more hardworking than you. This is an opportunity, and one should try to improve themselves by learning from their peers.

Life at department of design, IIT Guwahati.
Placements: The placement season is usually around December. In December 2016, 85% students were placed in companies like Microsoft, Samsung etc. The highest salary was around 30 lakhs(not disclosed officially). Job titles ranged from Senior UX designer to UI designer.
Infrastructure: There is a number of well-established labs and studios like embedded interactions lab, ergonomics labs, sustainability and social innovation lab, product development studio etc. Wi-Fi is available 24*7. The canteen is also open from 8 AM to 7 PM. Hostel rooms are spacious and student-friendly.
Faculty: The faculty team is excellent and very approachable. They are student-friendly and help for the overall development. A design championship is organised every year where all senior and juniors come together. It is a great ice breaker for all and is a healthy interaction medium. There are currently 32 faculty members and 400 students from freshman to PhD. Industry exposure is also readily available through internships and ongoing projects in the department. The curriculum is revised and very helpful.
Other: The campus is quaint and naturally rich. There are lakes and mountains in the campus and the weather is very suitable. These all factors promote healthy activities. E-rickshaw is a new service for on-campus transportation and is very cheap.
