The GATE 2026 application process is currently open for admission to ME/MTech courses. The last date to apply without fine fee has been extended to Oct 6, 2025. The GATE 2026 exam will be held on Feb 7, Feb 8, Feb 14, and Feb 15, 2026.
A few more updates are given below:
- The JEE Main 2026 registration process for the first session for IIT Guwahati admission to BTech, BArch, and BPlan courses is expected to begin in Nov 2025.
- The UCEED 2026 examination date has been published for IIT Guwahati admission admission to the B.Des course. As per the official statement, the exam will be conducted on Jan 18, 2026.
- The IIT JAM 2026 registration has now begun for admission to the MSc course. The last date to register is tentatively Oct 12, 2025. Furthermore, the exam will be held on Feb 15, 2026.

IIT Guwahati Application Process
Candidates seeking admission at IIT Guwahati are required to complete the application form for the course-specific entrance exam. For example, for BTech, candidates are required to apply for JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced application. Similarly, for the MSc, IIT JAM application form is required to be completed.
Selection Rounds
IIT Guwahati selects students based on JEE Main and JEE Advanced scores for the BTech course. Admission to MTech is through GATE followed by COAP Counselling. The institute considers IIT JAM and CCMN Counselling for MSc courses. Candidates can check with the admission office for the selection rounds of the rest of the courses.

IIT Guwahati Application Process 2025
To apply for BTech admission, candidates must visit the official website of the NTA and fill out the application form for JEE Main. However, for PhD admission, candidates can fill out the application form. The application fee is INR 500 for PG courses and INR 300 for PhD programme. Students can check the application steps below:
- Visit the official portal (iitg.ac.in) and click on the ‘Admission’ tab. From the drop-down menu, choose ‘PG’.
- Click on ‘Application Procedure’. The online application portal opens up. The admission brochure and course structure PDFs can be downloaded from this page.
- Click ‘New User Register Here'. Fill out the registration form with all the details. Also, create a password for future logins.
- Upload a passport-size photograph and signature after filling the form.
- Pay an application fee in the online mode through the SBI payment gateway using a debit card/ credit card/ net banking.
- Proceed with the second-last step of the application form by filling in the entrance exam, work experience (if any), reference & publications (for PhD applicants), and academic details.
- The application process is completed by signing the self-declaration and submitting the form.
