B.Tech. (Hons.) in Industrial Engineering - Batch of 2029

Everything is excellent, only sometimes the infrastructure may seem to be old.
Placements: Our batch is called semi-circular. Some companies consider us as circular, and some of them don't because of the course structure. 70-80% companies will be open to us, except the HFTs ( some of them are only open for the CS branch). Depending on the skills you have, you can get an internship or placement.
Infrastructure: The academic section is excellent. Wi-Fi (avg speed 200mbps) is available throughout the whole campus. Hostels are not up to date. In the first year, you will get a triple-sharing room. From the second year, you may get a triple sharing or a single room, depending on the hostel you are allotted. From the third year onwards, you are allotted single rooms.
Faculty: Faculty members are friendly. They try to explain everything, but the rest is upon you, that's how you manage your studies. Some of the subjects are very easy rest of them are tough. If you just follow the lectures and class notes, it is easy to score well on the exam.
Other: IIT Kharagpur is the oldest one. There are lots of places to explore and pass free time inside the campus itself. You can't expect city life here, as it is situated near a small town.

Good placements but bad gender ratio.
Placements: There is a CDC (Career Development Centre) which manages placement-related activities. CDC conducts various sessions before placements and internships. There are many companies that visit our Institute. The renowned companies are Google, Microsoft, Adobe, JP Morgan, BlackRock, and many more. The highest package is usually in crores, and the average is around 15 LPA to 20 LPA. Almost 80% students get placed in on-campus placement. Almost 50% students get internship through CDC. Rest apply for off-campus. Top roles are quant, software, and consulting.
Infrastructure: There are around 21 hostels in the institute, approximately 16 hostels for boys and 5 for girls. I live in Nehru Hall. This is one of the oldest hostels in IIT Kharagpur. Sundar Pichai also stayed here. There are facilities like Wi-Fi, cooler, geyser, LAN connection, etc. The mess food quality is average, as in most of the hostels. They serve food 4 times a day, 2 heavy meals and 2 light meals. Hostel and mess fees are usually around Rs. 40,000 per semester. There are also gyms, basketball courts, and football grounds in most of the hostels.
Faculty: In my department, the faculty members are good. They are very enthusiastic and ready to help if you reach out to them for any doubts. Most of the faculty members have done their Ph.D. This is from various prestigious institutions across the world. Most of the professors teach on a blackboard by writing things with chalk, and they also make little use of PPTs. In recent years, IIT KGP has changed its curriculum to incorporate AI in most of the courses. There are mid-semester and end-semester. Midsem carries 30% weightage, and end-semester carries 50% weightage. You have to score 30% to pass.
Other: Overall, campus life is pretty good. The campus offers a beautiful nightlife. You can roam on the campus throughout the night and no one will ask a question. There is a specific event called Illumination, which happens during Diwali every year. It is an event of light and is considered one of the most prestigious events of the Institute. There are many events such as hackathons, marathons, dance, musical performances, and so on. There are two main fests, one is Kshitij and the other is Springs. There are various scholarships, usually, the amount is Rs. 60,000 per year.

We have the best campus and the largest of all the IITs. Teachers and placements are good.
Placements: Approximately 60% of students are placed in the Biotech course, mostly in pharmaceutical companies, and most of them are also from abroad. The percentage of students who got internships in this course is 55%, and the roles offered are engineers of machinery used in Pharmacy.
Infrastructure: 24/7 Wi-Fi is available with good speed. The Department building is huge, and advanced machinery and devices are present in the lab. There is a Nescafe just outside the department for refreshment, and there is a personal departmental library for the Biotech students.
Faculty: Faculty members are really helpful and supportive in all ways. Most of them are Ph.D. holders from some IITs, and their communication is really good. The semester exams depend fully on what is taught in the lectures, and 2-3% of students fail for some reason.

Great place with decent perks.
Placements: A good percentage of people are placed, and it can offer exploration to a wide variety of fields in different sectors. The average package will be around 20 LPA, and it is very decent. A good number of internships are offered, and the placements will be good.
Infrastructure: There is a decent infrastructure and a great place to learn. The library is one of the best of its kind. Hostels are the things that could be better in some way or another. Hostel life is, in another way, mostly beautiful with our people around, and food quality is also good. Need to adjust sometimes.
Faculty: Teachers here are very helpful. The curriculum of this course gives a brief introduction to all fields related to engineering so that we can explore the things that we enjoy learning more about. Regarding the difficulties and grading policy, it's neither bad nor good. It will be average based on the course.

Perfect regarding semester exams and good regarding infrastructure.
Placements: According to the review given by the head of our college, overall, 88% of students got placed from our course. The highest package is 1 crore per annum, the lowest is considered to be 15 LPA, and the moderate is 25 LPA to 30 LPA. Top companies regarding semiconductors and DSP are offering jobs in our department. Overall, 80% to 90% of students got internships in semiconductors and electronics. Top roles are offered in the semiconductors course, which are highly paid, and it is very useful for a person's life in the future.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus. But it works slowly in certain places. Labs are good for understanding your interest in the subject. All the equipment present in the lab is also working in good condition. Our classroom complex is named Nalanda, which is very good-looking, and the classrooms are also very good with an AC supply. Medical facilities are free on our campus. Doctors are also good. But it will not be open all the time. If you want to meet the doctor for an emergency situation, you can apply an appointment.
Faculty: The teachers are qualified. Some people are very good at making us understand and very few or rare teachers can make us understand. But they are also very good in that subject. The course curriculum is very relevant. It provides very high job opportunities for students. The difficulty of semester exams is moderate. If you study properly, every student will pass. The pass percentage is expected to be very high. It might lie between 90% to 95%.
Other: I chose this course as our seniors suggested that you can enter the software side through this course easily, so this is the main reason I took this course, since I am interested in software. All things are very perfect regarding this course. So, I don't have any suggestions for the improvement of the course. Mainly, three fests take place, which are okay but not too good. Events occur frequently on our campus to chill and vibe. Connectivity is strong if you are present in any society. The campus crowd is automatically formed when you talk with more people.

The best part of my life is spent here at IIT Kharagpur.
Placements: I am from the 2020–2025 UG batch. In my course, almost 90% of students get placed. For internships, the rate is about 95%. The highest package exceeds crores per annum, while the average package ranges from 15–16 LPA and the lowest package is approximately 7 LPA. The top recruiting companies include BCG, Google, Microsoft, Adobe, etc.
Infrastructure: Laboratories are fully equipped with various research facilities from molecular biology to bioinformatics. Everything is available. The classrooms are well-lit, air-conditioned, equipped with projectors, and have Wi-Fi access throughout the campus. The Central Library here is the largest in Asia. I am from the MMM Hall, which is the largest hostel with a capacity of over 2,000. All rooms are double-sharing here. However, the food quality in the mess is going down day by day. The authorities should take care of it.
Faculty: Almost all professors hold a Ph.D. from elite institutions across the world. They are all active in research, publishing in high-impact journals. The core curriculum is a fusion of Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Computational Modelling. It also includes wet lab training. The semester exams are concept-heavy. Only this department follows an absolute grading scheme.
Other: I chose this course because of my strong interest in Biotechnology. There are two main fests. Spring Fest and Kshitij.
