Infrastructure: At Model Engineering College (MEC), Thrikkakara, students enjoy a vibrant campus with SMART classrooms, well-equipped labs, a central library full of books and digital resources, and fast Wi-Fi everywhere. Sports lovers have space for football, basketball, badminton, and more. The boys' hostel is on campus, the girls' hostel is nearby, and both offer comfortable rooms with tasty veg and non-veg meals. There's also a health center for quick medical help. Life here isn't just about academics. Events like the tech fest, Excel, active student clubs, and cultural activities make campus life lively and well-rounded.
Faculty: At Model Engineering College (MEC), Thrikkakara, the faculty are well-qualified, approachable, and supportive, making classes engaging and clearing doubts effective. The KTU-based curriculum blends theory and practical work, generally seen as relevant, though some feel it could be more industry-focused. Semester exams are of moderate to high difficulty, often drawing from previous years' papers, and can be managed with focused preparation. Pass percentage ranges from about 75% to 100%, varying by branch and batch. Overall, the teaching quality, structured curriculum, and supportive environment help students build strong fundamentals while preparing for careers in engineering and technology.
Other: I chose this engineering course because MEC stood out for its strong placements, vibrant tech culture, and solid alumni network that genuinely boosts your learning beyond classrooms. One of the best things is the peer support. Seniors, peers, and alumni all help you grow, and our flagship tech fest, Excel, is a thrilling highlight each year. That said, I wish the campus were a bit bigger and offered more hangout spots outside academics. While scholarships like merit-cum-means ease finance, the extracurricular scene, especially clubs like IEEE, TinkerHub, and the art and sports fests, makes MEC feel like home.

Even though the infrastructure is not up to the mark. The placements in MEC are worth joining.
Placements: Most of my seniors are placed before their course completion. The highest package was about 50 LPA last year, and the average was about 7 LPA to 8 LPA. Many companies have participated in the recruitment. Top recruiters are IBM, Wipro, and Key Value.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of MEC is not upto the mark. It is not vast like normal colleges. It's more like a high school changed to a college. A new building block and computer lab are finished this year, so it's satisfactory. Also, the classrooms and library can undergo few renovations.
Faculty: Teachers are very kind and helpful. Most of them clear the doubts of students without much hesitation. Most of them are highly qualified and some are doctorate holders. Still, some theory classes may feel boring. The last semester exam I faced was a bit challenging but still, it was okay. MEC is one of the top-ranking colleges with a very high pass percentage.
Other: The reason I chose this course is because I love coding and I like to explore more opportunities in it. The best thing about computer science is that it is the most demanded course with high pay in MEC. Excel is the main campus event. Also, many clubs bring up different workshops which are worth attending.

Best placement records, below average college life.
Placements: MEC has one of the best placement records. This year, the highest package was 52 LPA. The average package is 4-6 LPA. Last year, two students got the highest package of 32 LPA. They were placed at Ansys. Top recruiting companies are TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, Deloitte, and EY.
Infrastructure: The only drawback of MEC is its lack of space and infrastructure. They have AC and Wi-Fi in the computer lab, but some computers will not work. Also, there is a lack of space in the computer lab. At times, it gets crowded. I am not staying in the college hostel, so I don't know the food quality of the hostel.
Faculty: MEC has the best faculty. They have good qualifications in the teaching field. They also know how to handle their students. Most of the teachers try to build a good student-teacher relationship. We follow the 2019 KTU syllabus. It's a bit old. They do not teach Python. But the new 2024 scheme focuses on relatively new fields. The difficulty of semester exams is moderate to hard. It depends on the level of your preparation. Commonly, in the CS branch, very hard question papers are not given.

I'm satisfied with the choice I made and where I am now.
Placements: Percentage of students who got placed from Computer Science branch is about 95%. The highest salary package offered is about 45 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is about 1 LPA. Top companies approach our college for students. Companies like Microsoft, Infoxy, etc. approach our college for recruitment. Roles offered are analyst, project creator, etc.
Infrastructure: In our college, infrastructure does not have a big structure but placements are excellent. College has good Wi-Fi, classrooms, and library. In hostel, the quality of food is good and clean. However, canteen serves non-vegetarian food at high prices, even though it is not good in taste. Sports facility is available for both women and men. Our college encourages students for sports.
Faculty: Teaches are very helpful but they overlook students' careers. The quality of teaching is good. If we don't understand any topic, they take extra classes to clear our doubts. Overall, teachers are great.
Other: The course I chose is B.Teach in Computer Science and Business Systems (CU). I choose this course for placement. This course is better for future as compared to a normal B.Teach in Computer Science, as there is same old subject but in CU (Computer Science and business system) there is new syllabus and advanced maths. That's why I chose this course.

I am dissatisfied with infrastructure, but our college provides good placements and high packages.
Placements: Almost 80% of students got placed in our branch. The placement rate of our course is above average due to alumni support. It decreased now compared to past years. The highest salary package offered in 2023 to 2 students was 50 LPA. Our college will provide very high competition for placements in the coming years.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure available in our course are very poor. Despite having limited infrastructure and facilities, the college has increased the number of branches, leading to a shortage of classrooms and labs. The college hostel for women is very bad.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful. The teaching quality is good for most of the subjects (main subjects). The course is not enough to make students industry-ready. Semester exams are of moderate level. Around 100% of students pass exams in our class. Some teachers are very friendly.

MEC - Great in placements and fun.
Placements: The college offers great placement statistics. The placement cell is run entirely by students and offers great support during placements. The highest package at the time of writing is 52 CTC, with the average usually being around 10-12. Top companies like TCS and Infosys recruit from the college, and there have been placements from MNCs like Google.
Infrastructure: The classrooms, albeit lacking in quality, are big enough. A library is available for students on the campus. There are multiple labs throughout the campus, with each having enough facilities to accommodate your needs. The college canteen, situated on campus, offers great food at nominal prices.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful and lenient in most cases. They are knowledgeable enough and offer good quality teaching. With the update in KTU's syllabus the curriculum has become better and focuses on making students industry ready. The semester exams are easy enough with most students passing.

Really good placements. And infrastructure is not that much good. Faculty members are good enough.
Placements: Above 90% students were placed from the 2024 batch. From the 2025 batch now, around 30% students are placed. The highest package was 55 CTC in 2024. There are many companies coming to our college, including VISA, UST, and all. It has many opportunities for the students.
Infrastructure: Have a good Wi-Fi connection. And also, we have a good collection of books in the library. Hostel has many facilities, including Wi-Fi and food. It contains good quality food at the college hostel. We have additional college canteen facilities.
Faculty: Faculty members support us for many activities. Course curriculum is not that much relevant. Since we need to study all the 8 semesters in the college, it is very much helpful. Semester exams are a little bit tough compared to each subject, due to lack of time.
