at NIT Meghalaya, Shillong

To be considered for admission to the PhD programme at NIT Meghalaya, prospective students are required to fulfill certain eligibility criteria. These include having a minimum aggregate of 55% in their MA/MSc/BTech/MTech or equivalent degree, with relevance to the area of study, from a recognised university. In addition to this, candidates may also need to take the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) or the National Eligibility Test (NET), depending on the specific department they are applying to

NIT Meghalaya offers both full-time and part-time PhD programme. The PhD programmes has around  eight department which offers multiple area of studies. The departments are namely:

• Computer Science & Engineering
• Electronics & Communication Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering
• Physics
• Chemistry 
• Mathematics

The total tuition fee of the M.Tech programme at IIIT Bhagalpur is INR 6,500. These fees are excluded of other fees that are payable only at the time of admission. Other than the programme fee candidates have to pay a application fee for the GATE exam while registering for the exam. The applicatipn fees are :

NIT Meghalaya offeres two years full-time MSc progarmme especially for the graduate students to pursue their studies in the fields of science. However, candidates are required to fulfill the eligibility criteria laid down by the institution, which are as follows:

• Candidates must have bachelor’a degree in BSc with 60% aggregate
• Must qualify for the Joint Admission Test for Masters (IIT Jam) with a valid score
• Register for seat allocation through the Centralized Counselling for MSc (CCMN)

NIT Meghalaya doesn't have any direct admissionn option. To apply in the PG courses at NIT Meghalaya candiates must have valid national level entrance scores and participate in the counselling process.  However, for the PhD and sponsored courses, candidates can apply via the NIT Meghalaya's official website and appear for the PI/written test.

NIT Meghalaya is among the newly established NITs in the northeast region. It managed to secure 72nd under engineering category. As for its placement,   NIT Meghalaya concluded the 2023 placement session with199 job offers. The NIT Meghalaya average package and the highest package stood at INR 11.10 LPA and INR 32 LPA, respectively. Additionally, the lowest package offered was INR 3.6 LPA. NIT Meghalaya has a good record of placements for its BTech, MTech, and MSc courses. In 2024, the participating recruiters presented 117 job offers to the Class of 2024. The the highest and average package offered during NIT Meghalaya placements in 2024 was INR 46.3 LPA and INR 9.7 LPA, respectively. Yes, NIT Meghalaya offers MSc as a postgraduate programme for two years. The programme is offered across three specialisations which include Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Candidates willing to be admission in MSc must have a bachelor’s degree with 60% aggregate in Chemistry as an Honours/Major. Additionally, candidates are required to qualify the IIT Jam exam and apply for the CCMN counseling. If candidates fail to secure a seat via the CCMN they can always go for the institution-based entrance exam conducted especially for the vacant seats left after the CCMN counselling process.
