Candidates seeking admission shall apply for GATE through the COAPS portal and take the entrance exam. Candidates with a Bachelor’s or an equivalent degree in an appropriate branch of Engineering of a minimum four-year duration with 60% aggregate (55% for SC/ST/PwD) can apply. The students shortlisted based on GATE score are further required to appear for CCMT counselling following which the seat allotment is carried out.

The eligibility criteria for MTech course at the NIT Surathkal is that candidate should have passed BTech with a minimum of 60% aggregate from a recognised university.
