RGIPT MTech course admission 2025 is entrance-based. Candidates seeking admission to the programme must fill out the application form, appear for an entrance exam and finally pay the admission fees. Given below is the detailed RGIPT MTech admission process:
STEP 1: RGIPT MTech Application Process 2025
Candidates seeking admission to the MTech programme must fill out the online application form available on the RGIPT website. Candidates must also fill out the GATE exam application form. In the online application form, candidates must provide their personal phone number and email ID for registration. Candidates must pay the non-refundable RGIPT MTech application fees of INR 500 (for General and OBC candidates) and, INR 250 (for SC, ST and, PwD category candidates) before filing of application form.
STEP 2: RGIPT MTech Selection Criteria 2025
For the full-time regular registration category, candidates are shortlisted based on the GATE score which is valid and above the qualifying pass mark or written test or interview or on the basis of any combination of these as declared by the individual department. For admission under other categories, candidates are exempted from appearing in the written test.
STEP 3: RGIPT MTech Seat Allotment
The institute declares the final merit list of candidates who are required to appear for the counselling process. The final step of RGIPT admission is to pay the RGIPT MTech fees as mentioned below:

RGIPT MTech Scholarships 2025
Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology does not offer any scholarship to the MTech programme students, but financial assistance is provided in the form of Institute Assistantships to students admitted to the MTech programme under the Full Time Regular Registration Category.
Presently, assistantships at INR 12,400 per month are available for GATE-qualified candidates. Non-GATE qualified candidates, if admitted to the MTech programmes at the EIB Centre, will be provided with an Institute assistantship of INR 8,000 per month. A student shall be assigned duties up to eight hours per week by the departments to avail a teaching assistantship.
No student shall be admitted to the Full Time Regular Registration Category without Institute Assistantship, and no student can get financial assistance from more than one source at a time. There are a large number of Institute Fellowships for the MTech programme students in various disciplines.

As per the exam pattern of GATE, the exam is conducted online as a computer-based test. The exam will have a total of 65 questions from the candidates pre-selected paper. The questions will be Multiple Choice type, Numerical Ability type and Multiple Select (more than one option correct) type.
Out of total 65 questions, 10 questions will be from General Aptitude and remaining 55 will be from the subject selected by the candidate.
