Quite satisfied with the faculty and the really good infrastructure with all facilities.
Placements: About 70 percent of students were placed last year. The highest package offered was around 25 LPA, and the average was 6 LPA, whereas the median was 4-5 LPA. Top recruiters were Microsoft, Dell, etc. Around 10 percent of students got internships, and most internships were offered by Dell. SDE roles were the top offers offered in my course.
Infrastructure: Almost all facilities are available in college, and the Wi-Fi is good as well. Almost all required labs are available for CSE, be it the advanced programming lab, the AI lab, or the DS lab. Every lab has good computer systems. The faculty members' responses are good as well. The hostel is good, and the food in the mess is above average compared to other colleges. The hostel has good facilities available, be it security for the students, medical emergencies, or any other emergencies. The wardens are super friendly, and the hostels have night canteens available as well.
Faculty: Teachers are quite helpful, and most of them are learned. The course curriculum is relevant as well and does make students industry-ready. The semester exams are quite difficult in our college, with a pass percentage of around 60 percent in major 4 credit subjects.

Review from a first year student.
Placements: 70-80 percent of students are placed from my course. The highest package is around 12 LPA, and the lowest is 2 LPA-3 LPA. Microsoft, Dell, Amazon, etc., are recruiting companies. 85-90 percent of students got internships with top recruiters like Accenture, Amazon, IBM, as software engineer, data analysts, and full-stack developers.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi-enabled smart classrooms, advanced labs, supported by a large library with centralised air-conditioners, 24/7 power backup, hostels with attached bathrooms, a health centre inside the campus, sports complex with pool, gym with multiple activities room.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality of the teachers is excellent, and the course is regulated and overseen by UCG. It makes the students industry-ready as the college trains the students for the industry. The semester exams are moderately hard in this college. The pass percentage is 35 percent.

Good infrastructure, a worthy off-campus view, knowledgeable faculty members, and average placements
Placements: I am currently in my 5th semester of B.Tech (CSE), and the most recent pass-out 2025 batch are placed in reputed companies. In our 5th semester, recently a US healthcare company, Vivnovation, visited offering ₹15,000 per month as an intern role and a PPO of 22 LPA on satisfactory work performance. This year, the 2025 pass-out percentage of students placed stood at 76.5%, with 268 getting placed out of 350. The highest in-campus package offer is by Amazon, PwC, and Microsoft, which are 14 LPA, 12 LPA, and 8 LPA respectively. The roles are SAP Consultant and TS.
Infrastructure: The classrooms are well-equipped with proper seating arrangements and basic facilities. Every classroom is a smart class (no A/C). The labs are all Wi-Fi enabled with modern computers and architecture (A/C enabled). The library is big, well maintained, and has a large collection of books and reading space. Extra books can be provided on demand. Basic hostel facilities include bed, mattress, pillow, and bathroom items. Every room has average Wi-Fi with 16 Mbps speed. Mess food quality is low and not very nutritious. Medical, sports, gym, and games are well maintained and worth it.
Faculty: Teachers mostly are well qualified and knowledgeable, with good teaching methods, leaving some with a very rigid and boring way of teaching, which, we all can agree, happens in every college. The curriculum needs to be revised with modern subjects, and a big change is required in the first-year syllabus. Semester exams are application-based with good conceptual questions and average evaluation guidelines. There are two midterms of 50 marks summed up into 30, two quizzes of 5 marks each, 5 marks for attendance, 5 for assignment, and a 50-mark end-semester examination.
Other: Well, I got a 40% scholarship on fests due to my JEE rank, and this is a good option to go with for a CSE degree. The professors are okay, and the curriculum is good enough. You get a lot of time to work on your personal skills. Coding culture is too low, that can be worked upon, and clubs mostly begin normally but get lost in interior politics down the line. Fests are okay but can be made far better if the administration actually opens up and looks at things other than just academics. Crowd has increased definitely.

Review of Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology.
Placements: Around 70% of students are placed in B.Tech CSE, which is approximately 100 to 150 students. The highest package for B.Tech CSE is around 25 LPA, and the lowest is around 7 LPA. Top recruiting companies include Dell, Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart, and many more. Almost all students from the B.Tech CSE department secure jobs and internships.
Infrastructure: SMIT has six academic blocks, including labs, workshops, a library, and reading rooms. Besides this, it also has two hostels, one for boys and one for girls. The campus includes one ground and a sports block with a swimming facility. The hostel facilities are good, with each room accommodating two students and a floor warden assigned to each floor. The food in the mess is also good.
Faculty: The teaching faculty members are well-disciplined and well-educated. They have good teaching experience and an effective management system for all students. The course curriculum consists of programming and electrical knowledge, which prepares students well for jobs. Semester exams are not very difficult, and the passing percentage is 35%.

A short summary of Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology.
Placements: There is an average placement of approx 55 percent and the highest package received last year was 54 lakhs per annum by Google. The average package was 6 lakhs per annum, and the top recruits were Amazon, Dell Technologies, Shell, etc. The college has a decent placement.
Infrastructure: Amidst the beautiful valleys of Sikkim, we have this college situated, which provides the perfect ambiance for studies. The hostels are quite decent compared to other colleges, and the main advantage is having personal bathrooms. The quality of food in the mess is also good, where a diverse menu is followed.
Faculty: The faculty members are good overall, but the best and most qualified ones are in the Mechanical and Computer Science branches. The classes are engaging and very much application-based, especially the course offered in the CSE department, which is very helpful when it comes to real-world problems. The examination is very good, with a level that is moderate to difficult. The pass percentage would be approximately 60 percent.
Other: I chose this college as it provides great education at an affordable fee, and the lustrous green campus and serene and peaceful environment attracted me to join this institute. The overall experience of being a student is great. There are issues of connectivity due to being located in the mountains, but it provides great scholarships and has a great gender ratio where everyone is treated equally, and the surrounding area is also safe for women.

Absolutely amazing and worth remembering experience.
Placements: Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology has shown close to 100% placements each year. The highest package goes as high as 25–28 LPA. The top recruiting companies of the institute are Accenture, Microsoft, Dell, Bosch, Shell, etc. Overall, the college has shown a promising placement record in the past few years.
Infrastructure: The hostel at SMIT, like any other college, is pretty decent. It has Wi-Fi facilities not just inside the hostel but throughout the entire campus. The hostel rooms are of 4 different types: double- or single-room, with or without AC, and have facilities like a sports gym, a medical service, library and different kinds of workshops and laboratories.
Faculty: The academics at SMIT are managed by highly qualified professors at Sikkim Manipal University. Each semester, there are two different kinds of examinations: quizzes 1 and 2, and sessional 1 and 2, which also include assignments and lab sessions. Each semester is neither easy nor hard to crack; it totally depends on the students.
Other: The students joining SMIT should be aware of what is wrong and what is right. Every one or two years, the college organizes the biggest cultural fest in north-east India, known as Kaalrav. And there are a number other non-curricular and extracurricular activities conducted by the college itself. Overall, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology is definitely a good choice for newcomers and freshers to join the college.

Total experience and review by an ex student.
Placements: The Computer Science branch in our college has the highest placement rate compared to other branches. The placement for Computer Science is excellent, while civil, mechanical, and electrical branches have relatively poor placement. However, many teaching companies also come for placement in the CS branch. CS students have the highest placement rate in the college, standing at 97%.
Infrastructure: The hostel provides Wi-Fi, along with various facilities such as classrooms, playgrounds for cricket and football, a complex with a gym, snooker, table tennis, basketball court, auditorium, and a food court. Additionally, there is a swimming pool, amphitheater hall, court, library with a stationary shop, and a dispensary for health issues.
Faculty: The teachers lack helpfulness, but the course is highly relevant and regularly updated with industry-ready skills. Although the semester exams are challenging, with proper studying, passing them becomes manageable. However, the teaching proficiency and fluency of the faculty are questionable, and there is a noticeable bias and disappointing lack of care for students' needs. The overall quality of teaching is superb.
Other: During holidays, college can be quite dull as there are limited nearby options for entertainment and relaxation. To truly enjoy yourself, you would have to travel to Gangtok, which is approximately 40 kilometers away. Additionally, there are numerous insects at night and a nearby river that can be dangerous during periods of high water flow.

Why you should not come to SMIT by a 2023 CSE passout!
Placements: Placements have taken a hit after COVID. Earlier, Microsoft used to hire properly. In 2023 and 2024 that did not happen. Only interns who had done their summer internship were given ppo. Even the internship process itself was shady. I had a CGPA of 9.7 when Microsoft came and the college only allowed the top 30 students to submit their resumes. I was able to submit my resume but after that, I do not know what happened and only five students were randomly selected. Even their resumes were not that good. Same with the biggest company, Commvault, from whom mysteriously the names of several students were struck off. The college passed it off as company shortlisting but everybody knows what it is. No doubt no one was hired by Commvault and it subsequently banned SMIT, as far as I got to know. The TNP is very shady, bringing totally worthless companies offering a mere package of even 2.75 LPA with ~ 2 years of bond. The placement states are poor; they look, this is a tier-3 college. No doubt bringing companies is something I understand but why hide things? I can go on writing so much more about this but the result will be the same. I hope somebody needs to read this. If placement is the sole criteria, please do not come here. Manipal Jaipur, Chandigarh University, Amity Noida, and LPU are some good options for those who have messed up Main. I am writing this anonymously because I am afraid that the college administration will find me out. But trust me when I say that all the above points I mentioned are true.
Infrastructure: I have not been to other hostels but it is decent here; there is no major complaint as such. Plus, the students here make it really vibrant. If you enjoy late-night stuff, the hostel is good in that regard. The course I had taken was B.Teach in CSE. Very outdated, and the faculty is too disinterested to teach. Some of them are good; others are really bad. They might be knowledgeable, as I had mentioned but there is a difference between being knowledgeable and being a good teacher. 3 stars just for the hostel and physical infrastructure.
Faculty: The good faculty members have mostly left. I do not mean to dishonor any teacher but many of them are full of ego. especially the ones sitting at the top. They might be very knowledgeable, having published so many research papers but they do not know how to impart that knowledge. One thing I would like to mention is that teachers are approachable. They will try their best to make you understand. Many of them are friendly as well and will try their best to help you, even on a personal level. But everything gets turned down because of the placement, poor management, and some egoistic teachers sitting at the top as heads of respective departments. The Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics department teachers are by far the best and most knowledgeable of the lot. The syllabus is outdated, in my frank opinion but I think that is the case with every tier-3 college. You need to explore things on your own, outside of college studies, to grow.
Other: Whatever I will be mentioning here will be absolutely true. As I mentioned, I am writing this anonymously so that the college does not figure me out. Not that I care if they figure it out but I still would like to keep my identity hidden. If you enjoy changing around and do not care anything about your career, then SMIT is just that. Fests and events are less than what they used to be in pre-covid times but the crowd here is fun-loving. Drinks, parties, strong friendships, fights, and romance—expect every bit of this. College is pretty hilly in these aspects. But if you are looking for placement, it is not good. I do not want to use harsh words but I will say this much: the college management has itself messed up everything. Companies cracked by students off-campus are shown as on-campus placements. Amazon has never come to this college. So is WatchGuard and that 36.5 LPA package you see. The only big branded companies that have ever come are Microsoft, Commvault, and Providence. College is little lenient if you have problem with If you are not getting any good colleges, I will recommend a few, and please trust me with this again. I have been at your place and know exactly what I should have done. Go to Manipal Jaipur, Chandigarh University, Amity Nodia, LPU, TIET, and MAIT. Trust me, these are way better than this college. One more thing to those people from my college who are outraged by this writing: I have written only the truth. Things that I could not say back in college due to fear of you people withholding my degree. I was one of the best in college but I am really ashamed of this college.
