The NIFT 2025 Entrance Exam is conducted in TWO stages. B.Des candidates first appear in the written exams, NIFTEE: GAT and CAT. If shortlisted, the candidate has to appear in a Situation Test. It is mandatory for candidates to appear in both the written exams and the Situation Test, or else the candidate will not be included in the FINAL merit list for NIFT 2025. If you are wondering how important the Situation Test is, remember that it carries 20% weightage. The Situation Test of NIFT 2025 for the B.Des program will be conducted on June 08 at 26 centres in 18 cities. The NIFT 2025 written exam was conducted on February 9, 2025.

Why solve sample papers of the NIFT Situation Test?

Q:   Is the NIFT 2025 Admit Card for Stage 2 released?
A:

Yes, NTA released the NIFT 2025 Stage 2 Admit Card on the official website, on June 02, 2025. The Admit card can be downloaded using Application number and Date of Birth. 

Q:   Where can I download NIFT sample papers?
A:
The candidate can download the official sample papers from the official NIFT website; the sample papers are available in the form of pdfs. Alternately, they may download the sample papers from this page. The sample papers are available in downloadable pdf format and can be downloaded simply by clicking on the relevant paper; no login is required. Leading coaching institutes like the Rathore Design Studio and Academy of Fashion And Art (AFA) also releases sample papers along with the answer keys that the candidate can download for practice. But these institutes may charge a fee for downloading the sample papers?
Q:   How many questions are asked in NIFT GAT?
A:

The exam pattern for NIFT GAT varies from one course to the other. The total number of questions asked in NIFT GAT are mentioned below: BDes: 100 questions BFTech: 150 questions MDes: 120 questions MFTech: 150 questions MFM: 150 questions Note that the GAT or the General Ability Test will be conducted in a computer-based mode. Questions will be objective-type. The GAT paper for the B. Des and M.Des programs will be of 120 minutes. However, the GAT paper for the B.FTech M.FTech and MFM courses will be for 180 minutes.

It is because apart from learning about the paper structure, like what types of questions are asked, marking scheme, and difficulty level, the candidate can benefit in another way. NIFT Entrance Exam is a "two-tiered process for BDes course admission. The aspirant has to first appear in the written exam - CAT (Creative Ability Test) and GAT (General Ability Test). Shortlisted candidates have to next appear in a NIFT Situation Test. Candidates are shortlisted for the Situation Test on the basis of their performance in the written tests (CAT and GAT). The NIFT 2025 scorecard will contain the qualifying status of the candidate. Candidates who qualify the NIFTEE written exams only can appear in the Situation Test.  

To prepare the merit list of NIFT 2025, the weightage given to CAT and GAT exams is 50% and 30%, respectively, and the NIFT Situation Test carries 20% weightage. Every year, the NIFT Situation Test is conducted after the declaration of NIFT results for the written exams are declared.   

In NIFT Situation Test 2025, candidates need to appear for a Situation Test at their allotted NIFT exam centre. NIFT Situation Test is of two two-hour duration. During the test, candidates will be provided with a set of materials using which they need to make 3D models. The model must be explained with a write-up.

NIFT Situation Test 2019- Day 1 Questions

Q:   What is the right time to solve NIFT sample papers?
A:

There is no specific time to start solving sample papers of NIFT. However, here are some suggestions as to when you can start solving sample papers.

  1. Once you complete a topic, you can take a sample paper and start solving the related problems.
  2. This way, as you move on in the preparation, go on solving the related questions.
  3. It is recommended to solve at least a few sample papers so that you properly understand the problem and the procedure to solve it.
  4. By the time you complete the syllabus, you must be able to solve the complete sample paper.
Q:   When will the NIFT sample papers be released?
A:

The sample papers for the NIFT 2025 exam are released on the official website of the institute - nift.ac.in. The sample papers are available for the GAT and CAT written exams.

Also, the sample papers are available for all the programs offered by the participating colleges - B. Des, M.Des M.FTech B.FTech and M. F. M. 

No login is required to download the sample papers. Simply click on the relevant sample paper. The sample papers are available in downloadable pdf format. It may be noted that the sample papers don't contain any solutions.

Note that sample papers for NIFT 2025 will be released once the exam notification is out or sometime thereabout. 

Q:   Will NTA release the NIFT 2025 question paper?
A:

The NTA will release the NIFT 2025 question paper for the written exam along with the answer key. The question paper will be made available before the declaration of exam results.

The candidate had to download the NIFT question paper 2025 from the NTA NIFT admission portal.

To download the question paper, log in to the portal using your candidate credentials. Note that the NTA also released the recorded responses. So, the candidate can use the answer key, recorded response, and question paper to calculate the total number of correct attempts, and eventually the probable score.

Q:   Where can I download NIFT sample papers with solutions?
A:
The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) publishes the sample papers of NIFT for all the courses offered at its 18 participating colleges. However, these official sample papers doesn't contain any solutions. However, there are many leading coaching institutes like the Rathore Design Studio and Academy of Fashion And Art (AFA) that releases sample papers along with the answer keys that the candidate can download for practice. To avail these sample papers, the candidate will have to pay a one-time fee. To download the sample papers, go to the coaching institute portal, may be fill a form, and make the payment.

NIFT Situation Test 2025 Question Paper - FAQs

Q. When will the NIFT 2025 situation test be conducted?

A. The Situation Test for NIFT 2025 will be conducted around March -April 2024; the detailed schedule for the test will be announced soon after the declaration of results for the NIFT 2025 written exams - GAT and CAT.

Q. Who can appear in the NIFT 2025 Situation Test?

A. Candidates will be shortlisted for the NIFT 2025 situation test based on their performance in the written exams, which comprise the Creative Ability Test (CAT) and the General Ability Test (GAT). Note that it is mandatory for candidates to appear in both the written exams and the Situation Test for admission.

Q. How will candidates be shortlisted for the NIFT 2025 Situation Test?

A. The shortlisting of candidates for the Situation Test will be done of the basis of the performance of the candidate in the GAT and CAT written exams. The list of eligible candidates (or shortlist) will be declared in March 2025, at the time of declaration of NIFT 2025 written exam results.

Q. What is the weightage carried by the Situation Test in the NIFT 2025 entrance exam?

A. The NIFT 2025 situation test carries a weightage of 20%. In comparision, the CAT paper carries 50% weightage, and the GAT paper carries 30% weightage. 

Q. What will be the format of the NIFT 2025 situation test?

A. The Situation Test will be condiucted in an offline mode. The Situiation Test will be a hands-on test that will be used to evaluate the abilities of the candidate in material handling and their ability to construct innovative models. The candidate will be given a set of materials using which he/she has to make a model. The situation test will be evaluated on the spot.
