The BTech admission season witnesses a massive inflow of student applications every year from across India, from those who are aspiring to become successful engineers in varied domains. While students are often confused about the entrance examinations to appear for, a few prominent ones include JEE Main and JEE Advanced, along with other state and university-level exams.

Surprisingly, another major entrance exam to consider is CUET, with more than 220 BTech colleges accepting CUET exam scores for admission. A lot of engineering aspirants might not be aware of this fact, but it can turn out to be the game changer for students who could not score well in JEE Main or other engineering exams and are still hoping to get a decent college for their preferred BTech specialization.

Advantages of Taking the CUET UG Exam for BTech Admission

The CUET UG exam can prove to be helpful for students as it serves as an entry point for admission to various other courses as well besides BTech. A few advantages of taking the CUET exam are given below:

  • Students who opt for PCM subjects as their domain subjects while filling out the CUET application form also have other course choices like BSc, BCA, BSc IT, etc., to explore at popular academic institutions across India.
  • The CUET exam scores are accepted by more than 220 BTech colleges in India, giving a wide scope to students to explore multiple top college options.
  • There is less dependency on board exam results as CUET acts as a strong alternate admission criterion for admission that tests the general aptitude, logical reasoning, and core knowledge of Mathematics and Science subjects.

Top BTech Entrance Exams Other Than CUET UG

Though as per the Shiksha poll, there are a good number of students who are considering CUET for BTech admission, there are several other popular engineering entrance exams that one can appear for to get admission to top Indian colleges. The table given below gives a brief overview of the exam syllabus for some popular BTech entrance exams in India:

Entrance Exam Syllabus

Exam Syllabus Details

JEE Main Syllabus

Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are the three major subjects covered in the JEE Main syllabus. Both theoretical and practical component are included in Physics. Physical, Inorganic and Organic Chemistry are a part of the Chemistry section. The subjects covered in Mathematics are from Classes 11 and 12.

MHT CET Syllabus

MHT CET exam is of 300 marks which consists of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology of 100 marks each. It gives 20% weightage to the syllabus of Class 11 whereas 80% weightage to Class 12th syllabus. Therefore, its syllabus is slightly different from JEE Main with respect to the weightage of both exams.

KEAM Syllabus

The entrance examination consists of subjects such as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of Class 11 and 12 level. KEAM question paper carries a total of 120 objective-type questions.

KCET Syllabus

The KCET exam will test the students' knowledge of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology.

Each question in the exam will carry one mark with four options, out of which only one answer will be correct. There will be no negative marking in the exam.

BITSAT Syllabus

The syllabus consists of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as well as English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning. Apart from the PCM syllabus, the exam also tests the general proficiency of students in English language and their ability to perceive data logically and interpret it for applying rules while solving questions.
