A Bachelor of Technology is considered as the gateway to the field of engineering. BTech course is a full-time four-year undergraduate-level course that is offered by various engineering colleges/institutes. The 4-year BTech degree course is spread over 8 semesters. The alternative to the BTech course is Bachelor of Engineering. BE is more of a theoretical-based program while a Bachelor of Technology is based on practical learning as well as theoretical learning.

BTech Full Time or BTech regular course is a 4-year duration course that covers various aspects of Engineering & Technology. To be selected for BTech full-time courses candidates must meet certain eligibility requirements set by the preferred college/institute. However, the basic eligibility is to qualify for class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Various colleges offer admission to full-time BTech courses based on the marks obtained in the entrance test.

Part-time BTech

A part-time BTech is also a 4-year undergraduate engineering course that is approved by AICTE and authorized by the authority. A Part-time BTech course is a relief to the aspirants who want to gain practical knowledge while working and theoretical knowledge at the same time. The eligibility criteria for the Part-Time BTech course is listed as follows:

  • Students must have passed 10+2 from a recognized board with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry as the core subjects.
  • Candidates who are diploma holders of any relevant discipline are also eligible for the Bachelor of Technology course in a Part-Time study mode.

Distance BTech

The BTech Distance learning course is an undergraduate degree in engineering in distance mode of learning for applicants interested in engineering studies. BTech Distance learning mode is suitable for professionals who work or live in remote areas or have financial problems. The admission procedure for BTech Distance Learning Courses begins twice a year: January and July. Students can also apply for a distance BTech program online through the official website of the university or institute. For offline mode admission in BTech courses in distance learning, students can send the application form along with important verified documents to the regional center of the university.

BTech Entrance Exams

Almost every Indian state holds its own entrance exam for BTech admissions to autonomous colleges. Below are some of the state-level BTech Entrance Exams in India, as well as application and exam dates. Each of the state-based entrance tests is tailored to the admission requirements of the state in question. The states themselves administer the entrance tests.

  • JEE Main is a national entrance examination for BTech admissions to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. It is administered by the National Testing Agency. Paper 1 (BE/BTech) and Paper 2 (BArch/BPlan) are the two papers in JEE Main.
  • JEE Advanced is a national level entrance examination for IIT BTech admissions. To take JEE Advanced, students must first pass JEE Main.
  • VITEEE - One of the most popular private institute entrance exams, VITEEE admits students to Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) and its multiple campuses' BTech programmes.
  • MHT CET - Students can apply for BTech admissions to Maharashtra's BTech institutes through the MHT CET.
  • TS EAMCET - Students get admitted to Telangana state institutes based on their scores in the TS EAMCET.

BTech without JEE

JEE Entrance Exams, particularly JEE Advanced, are regarded as one of India's most difficult exams. This is why some students struggle to gain admission to IITs and NITs.
Students looking for an alternative to JEE Advanced or Mains, or a way to get into BTech without taking JEE, have a number of possibilities to apply and appear for entrance tests held by schools such as BITS, VIT Vellore, and others. Other state-level or college-specific admission tests will be used to admit students to BTech programmes.
There are colleges that accept direct admission; students can learn more about these colleges by conducting research. Without JEE Advanced, students will be unable to apply to IITs and NITs.
