BTech Admission 2025: Registration, Qualification, Selection Process

The BTech admission process is based on Class 12 and exam scores. The BTech eligibility includes passing Class 12 in Science (PCM) with 50% to 75%.
Exams accepted for BTech admission are JEE Main, JEE Advanced, MHT CET, etc. Exams which are conducted by universities are VITEEE, LPU NEST, etc. Candidates going for direct admission need to go through extra admission rounds like Group Discussion (GD) or Personal Interview (PI).
4,700 BTech colleges are there in India which also include IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, etc. The BTech fees is around INR 5 lakh and INR 15 lakh.

JEE Advanced is of a higher difficulty level as compared to JEE Mains. A. Here's a very basic list that consists of some of the most important documents that you must have with you during the BTech admission procedure at college:
1) Class 12th mark sheet with at least 50 to 60% marks in the PCM/PCB/PCMB subjects

3) Entrance exam scorecard and admit card (In the case of entrance-based BTech admission)
4) Valid Aadhaar Card/Passport/PAN Card for Identity Verification

Q. Can you tell me about the BTech counselling process after entrance exam results?
A. After the BTech entrance exam results are announced, you need to register online for the counselling process of the universities you’re targeting.
Further, log in to the counselling portal and select your college. Then, seats will be allotted on the basis of your rank and score in the entrance exam. After the seat is allocated to you, you must visit the college to confirm your admission by paying the BTech course fee and fulfilling other requirements (If any).
Q. How much time does the BTech admission process take, from the entrance exams to the seat allotment process?
A. It can vary from one college to another. Every academic institution has their own set of guidelines that they follow for admission to various BTech specializations. The time involved in the admission process may take a few weeks to a few months. After you appear for your entrance exams, the general procedure involves the declaration of exam results, applying for the counselling process online, seat allotment on the basis of your exam rank, and admission confirmation from your end by visiting the college and paying the necessary B Tech fees.
Q. What is the BTech admission process at the popular NITs in India?
A. To get admission to BTech courses at the NITs in India, you must secure at least 75% marks in Class 12 in the PCM/PCB/PCMB subjects. The subject combination may vary on the basis of your chosen specialization. For reserved category candidates, the marks eligibility requirement is usually 65%. In addition, you must appear for and clear the JEE Main examination. You must secure vary good marks and a decent rank in the JEE Main exam to be eligible for admission.
After you successfully secure a decent rank in JEE Main, you will have to apply online and then appear for the JoSAA counselling process where you will be allotted a seat according to your rank at one of the NIT branches in India.

A. Lateral BTech is an engineering programme that attracts candidates who wish to pursue engineering after completing diploma courses in Engineering. Therefore, those candidates who have completed Diploma in Engineering after Class 10 can enter directly into second year of BTech programme.
