Starting preparation for JEE Mains? The first thing you should do is to check the syllabus of your JEE Mains and make a time table accordingly.

  1. Last week’s tips and tricks: In the last week, don't start any new topic which you haven't studied because it will add pressure on you. It can completely divert your mind and get you worried. Revise all the things as much you can, this will strengthen your confidence on those topics. Wake up early in the morning to study with a fresh mind.
  2. Tips on time management: For time management, you should keep solving previous years’ papers by setting your time. Try to solve them in as lesser time as possible. This will help you prepare to fight the pressure during the exam. Also, give test series of various coaching institute such as FIITJEE, Allen, Resonance, etc.
  3. Scoring topics (Chapters/Preparation strategy): The best scoring part in JEE is chemistry. So, you should solve chemistry first in the exam. It is the part where you can score more and also save you timing. Try to study inorganic and organic chemistry. Problems are simple in it. In physics, some theoretical and formula-based questions will be asked. So try to study them first. Try to solve IIT 42-year books. Mathematics’s calculus part is easy if you want to score more.
  4. Revision approach/Study plan: You should revise all the things continuously as much you can. Formula is the most important part. There is one book by the name Arihant’s Formula Book for various subjects. This will help you alot for the revision of chapters as well as formulae. Try to study quality-wise, not quantity-wise. Try to understand the things and then memorize them.
  5. Managing 12th & JEE preparation: This is the biggest problem that most of the students face. Do not panic and fear about it. If you look at the syllabus, most of the questions are from boards. So, if you plan to start solving questions, begin with NCERT books. Then go for mains level and other material because it provides strength to your basic level so that you can easily approach the higher level.
To ensure you have enough time for preparation, create a schedule and follow it rigorously. Try to understand the problems and then solve them.
  6. Beware of negative marking: During the exam, know that you will marked negatively for wrong answers. So mark only those answers that you are sure of. Just go with the flow and ensure time management in the exam hall too.
