If you have sufficient knowledge and command over the syllabus to crack JEE Main, then attempt the upcoming exam in April.

If your JEE Main score is low or you are not satisfied with it to get admission to top National Institutes of Technology (NITs) or Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), you still have many options to choose from. If not the IITs or NITs, you can always pick between some of the top deemed universities offering best-in-class engineering courses.

In our country, we have many deemed and reputed universities as well as colleges that provide to students with a low JEE score. You can choose any institute based on their campus placements. Recently, JEE results were declared and most of the successful candidates are now busy in the preparation for JEE Advanced examination. And, rest of them must be busy attending the counselling rounds for seeking admissions in NITs, IIITs for BTech and BArch courses.

However, only 38,000 candidates out of 1.73 lakh candidates have cleared the examination. Therefore, the number of unsuccessful candidates is more than those who cracked the exam. Those candidates who scored less or below your expectations can be desperately searching for some other alternative career options.

Should you drop a year or not?

Yes of course, in most of the cases dropping a year is not good and many of them hesitate to drop a year. If you are interested or passionate about BTech and you don’t want to pursue any other course or career options other than engineering then you should not hesitate to drop a year. And if you have enough confidence and feel that you can score highest marks in the next attempt then it is better to drop a year but do remember that most of the candidates are unable to achieve this in real. However, if you have the confidence, determination and dedication skills then definitely you can achieve a good score. If you are patient enough to study with full dedication for one more year and you have the right ability to crack the exam, only then you should consider taking a drop. If you are not confident, avoid dropping a year.

Which colleges accept low JEE Score?

If you were unsatisfied with your JEE Main score, but, there is nothing to worry about it, you have many options. For instance, deemed universities and private colleges. Some of them will provide you admissions based on the JEE Main score and most of them will conduct a separate exam for admissions. Delhi Technological University (DTU)and Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT) colleges offer admission based on JEE score. Some popular private colleges such as SRM, VIT, KLU, GITAM, BITS, etc., conduct their internal entrance examinations every year, which is another option you could try. You could also appear for state-level examinations which are conducted every year by the state government such as AP EAMCET, WBJEE, TANCET, MHTECH, etc., and you can opt for several Science courses and Mathematics courses which are getting popularity over the years. After getting a degree of BSc Maths, BSc Physics, etc., you can look for opportunities in pure and applied for research in the fields of computational physics, etc., and you can choose some professional courses, also.

Should you wait for counselling session?

If you have a better score and if you are confident that will be able to make it to the counselling sessions then you better wait for them. And you can check and compare with previous years’ score and cutoff. You can also compare your category, board exam marks and percentile. This will be definitely useful for your analysis. If you are interested in some colleges by knowing their scope and placements offer, as a secondary option book your admission in that college. In popular colleges, seat might get filled soon. You should remember all these things in mind and wait for subsequent counselling sessions.

Should you attempt JEE Main again in April?

If you have sufficient knowledge and command over the syllabus to crack JEE Main, then attempt the upcoming exam in April. Have a self-analysis over the JEE exam because without having sufficient knowledge and preparation writing this exam will take you nowhere and you may also lose your confidence.

So, better have a self-examination over the exam. Anyhow, if you are sure about the exam and to give a next attempt in the coming month of April, prepare seriously without showing any procrastination regarding the syllabus. Procrastination may lead you to disappointment. Now itself you should have a proper schedule for your next attempt. Revise thoroughly each and every topic. Give as many mock tests as you can and practice as many previous year papers as you can. Group discussion over the subject may help you and they might aware you some unknown topics. Clarify each and every doubt. Revise thoroughly NCERT Books, Note down each and every important points and formulae. Already you are aware of the syllabus so prepare and give mock tests twice a day. Stay calm and avoid tension and stress. I suggest you meditate at least 10 minutes every day. Practice and revision along with smart work will definitely give you a good score.
