These are first-hand student accounts on how our young population is managing to keep their exam prep or college course work going from the confines of their homes. In case you want to share your lockdown study experience, write to us at publish@shiksha.com.
Currently, we all are going through a difficult phase due to COVID 19. So, I thought to share how my institute is tackling the current situation in this article.
There are difficult situations in almost every sector but I feel that due to the lockdown there should not be any loss in terms of education of students. However, every government, institutes, faculties, students, etc. have to come together to fight this pandemic and overcome this situation. From the last week of March, almost every institute started taking online lectures and sharing assignments with their students. In this way, the students could utilise their time productively.
Talking about my institute, it is also concerned about the students learning and development. So, they also are conducting online lectures, assignments, exams, etc. The teachers are delivering online lectures from various online platforms daily. Every possible step is taken by my college to make the most of the time during the lockdown.
The effectiveness and quality of the online lectures provided by my institute is great. Also, it is proving to be helpful and effective for every student in terms of learning the concepts easily. For now, the speed and frequency of these lectures cannot be the same as the regular lectures as it is conducted for the first time on such a large scale for this long period. By looking at the progress and response it is getting, the online lectures would be conducted with the same frequency as other regular lectures.
The students are expected to submit the project work (which is possible from home) and assignment as required by the teachers. The faculties are also quite supportive and providing their guidance, tips and advice to every student as and when required. In this situation, the practical or laboratory work cannot be performed but then the institute is trying to provide some learning of that as well in the form of video, material, etc. In short, the institute is consistently putting in their best efforts in every possible manner to ensure the studies are not hampered.
The students are learning new things every day and of course, the experience is quite good for everyone in these hard times.
Thus, students of my institute are not facing major loss in studies due to the lockdown because of the great and timely initiatives taken by the institute.
