KEAM Exam Pattern 2023 is released by the Commissioner for Entrance Examination (CEE) along with the information brochure. KEAM 2023 exam will be held in pen and paper mode. Candidates seeking admission at engineering colleges in the state of Kerala need to appear for two papers which form a part of KEAM exam. Paper 1 will consist of questions asked from Physics and Chemistry, while Paper-II will contain questions from Mathematics.

Before we move ahead towards the detailed KEAM exam pattern, it is mandatory for candidates to understand the exam syllabus. KEAM syllabus usually consists of topics taught in Class XI and Class XII. Detailed KEAM Exam Pattern

The pattern of the exam states that the KEAM question papers will comprise objective type questions (MCQ). For each question asked, five answers will be suggested but, only one of them will be correct. All the questions asked will be from KEAM syllabus listed for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.

For every correct response in the Engineering and Medical Entrance Examinations, candidates will be awarded four marks and for each wrong response, one mark will be deducted from the candidate’s total score.

 KEAM Marking Scheme

In order to understand the KEAM question paper pattern, it is important to study the marking scheme in the exam. The exam marking scheme to understand the KEAM pass marks is similar to the JEE Main marking scheme.  

  • Candidates will be awarded 4 marks for every correct answer
  • 1 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer   
  • 4 marks will be awarded to candidates for marking every accurate answer
  • No marks will be deducted for not attempting a question   
  • In case a candidate has marked two answers for a single question in the OMR sheet, negative marking will be applicable regardless of either of the answers being right or wrong.

Q. How many questions will be there in KEAM 2023?

A. There will be a total of 240 questions in KEAM 2023 exam. Each paper will contain 120 questions.

A. Each paper of KEAM 2023 will carry 480 marks.

Q. For how many hours KEAM 2023 will be conducted?

A. KEAM 2023 will be held for 2 hours 30 minutes duration.  

Q. Is there any negative marking in KIITEE 2023 exam?

A. Yes, One mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

The test is broken up into two sections: Paper 1 is for physics and chemistry, and Paper 2 is for math. Candidates must also pass the National Aptitude Test in Architecture to be admitted to Kerala's B.Arch. programme (NATA). The NATA exam is divided into two parts: Part A is a drawing test, and Part B is a test of general intelligence and scientific prowess. 200 points are awarded for passing the exam overall, including 125 points for Part A and 75 points for Part B. While the NATA score is utilised as a qualifying requirement for admission to B.Arch. courses, the KEAM exam score is used to rank students for admission to various courses, including B.Arch. provided in Kerala.
